K&N Typhoon air filters

Hi everybody!

Does anybody have installed the K&N Typhoon air filters?

I saw them at this web-site

http://www.knfilterchargers.com/sear...Prod=69-6030TP

Any recommendations?

Ciao! :p

Its not an air filter, its an Intake System! You've got to swap out the whole OEM intake system.

Any way, there are tones of discuss on this intake, with mixed experiences. Some think its great, some think it screw up their car's performance. And no one agrees to the claim they made of the 9.5hp gain

So do let us know if you do get it

Cheers

Guys you are great!

Hi guys,

thanks a lot for your contributions!!! :D :D :D

I am still wondering if:

a) K&N intake system could be "VERY" noisy (I read something about the noise after 6000 rpm becomes "unbeareble")

b) do you have other suggestions, maybe a different air filter to replace the stock one?

c) other suggestions to get those extra hps without major intervention on the engine?

Thanks and have a happy Renesis-day!

Ciao

a. Most, if not all, open pod air filters are very loud, therefore its not only limited to K&N only.

b. different air filters, maybe u cld get the drop-in panel type which is different from the original one.

c. There are juz too many things u can do without touching the engine but improve HP. the exhaust (if u considered that as not touching the engine), the manifold, the whole pipe, catalyt converter and many many more..... the ting is how much are u willing to splurge and how extreme u wan ur car to perform? but then again, how much HP u wan to increase? the stock rx8 is oredi powerful enuf for everyday driving. I wld tink its better to make the car better to drive more than juz increasing HP.

Juz my humble opinion....

Hi RXs Bros,

I have installed the K and N intake system. So far, i have no problems but according to some of my frens (who owns a rx8 also), have some problem with the kit after he change his exhaust system. it appears that his engine stalled out of the blue. this could be the result of the air flow sensor in the cat con, but his hp did increase quite a bit with the kit and exhaust.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for your input! :D

I just would like some extra hp to have the car a little bit more responsive at the throttle.

I ride a superbike and I have just changed exhaust, air filter and CPU and when from the bike I then take the car, it seems soooo slow ...

Ciao!

How good is it compare to the K&N Typhoon.

Cos I was thinking about buying a 2nd hand Typhoon for around S$250 including shipping .

Actually my main aim will be the "sound" or "noise" not so much about HP gain.

OR

Any members can advice me on any open pod filters sold in Singapore that can give me the low tone Loud sound? (hope to get those with cold air duct so that it would not draw in any Hot air from the engine)

Thanks

bro, most open pod, if not, all will give u the low tone sound. If solely for the sound only, go for open pod! no 2 ways abt that. :D :D

But don't simply install any 'ol open pod filter... some can actually do harm. Better look before you leap!

I think this car is very complicating. Most of the normal car will definitely work with any open pod filter.

Just to confirm that if the RX8's engine will die suddenly when at idle?

Do a search in this forum for whatever intake system you intend to get for your 8 and read what all the other members around the world has to say about it. A number of people have reported issues with the K&N Typhoon. Even if all you want is the sound and performance gain is secondary, still gotta make sure the intake won't create problems for your 8. Modern cars are very advanced, even small anormalies can trigger the CEL and even if you know it doesn't damage the car, a lit CEL is just damn irritating IMO.
