Just Bought RX8 6 Speed Auto from PI

Seniors and Owners of RX 8

Just paid deposit for an RX8 6 Speed Auto from Hua Yang after reading all your posts i felt worried about everything. From Hua Yang Reputation to after sales services, delivering delays and empty promises.

Just 2 days ago went to the commonwealth car mart and walk around. Saw the RX8 and been thinking for a while to buy this car. So just sit down and listen to the sales man introducing the car. After that i paid deposit and some more he say that the Black is out and ask me to take the Silver instead and minus 1K for me if i take the Silver. Although he promise that he will try his best to swap for a black and after i read all the threads here, i think that will never happen. He also ask me what i want and he gave me Leather Seats, Reverse Sensor and Solar Film. (this are written in black and white) Although he say he will try to get me also high quality Mats.

I need some advises, if the loan is approve i will have to pay the rest of the deposit and i dont think after paying they will give 2 ***** caring what i want. If anyone of you out there can give any advises please do. Thanks

my 8 is also from the exact same source and i got my car within the promised time frame. so i guess from my experience, it should be ok. fingers crossed and hopefully yours will too.

in order to ensure that they deliver what they promised, get them to write them all in black and white. ie: the freebies they will give. those not written will then be based on trust.

however for the delivery time, there is no way they can 100% commit due to so many diff factors to consider. but the number of COE bids and either guarantee or not and top up or not must be written clearly on the aggrement. if they canot deliver then at least your deposit is 100% refundable.

what are u actually concern about ?
color, floor mats or wat is it actually ? tell us and maybe we can advise.

as for the color, it's a small issue. trust me, u may like the silver after a while. infact silver is the color that will show the least swirl mark. dun go respray the moment you got your car. drive it for a while and then if you realy dun like silver, then only respray. dun waste the $$ yet.

lastly, happy waiting and welcome to the family.
Cheers.....

I bought the car with a Guarantee COE so i assume that i will not need to do any top up if the COE rises. I saw some post stating that some PIs will asks even it stated as Guarantee COE, so i am quite worry. Of course others like servicing of the car after that. Can you let me know your experience with their workshop. I dun want later i go to their workshop and kana chop like robert zhai...

guarantee and top up is 2 diff things.

guarantee COE means they will deliver the car after the number of times they bid, which is stated is the aggrement.

examples:
3 Bids guarantee - they will deliver the car after 3 bids no matter how high or low the COE went.
3 Bids non guarantee - they will try up to 3 bids but they might not deliver if the COE is too high

Top Up means if they will set a limit on the COE, if they got the bid higher that the limit you will have to top up the difference. this is imporant, get them to write it down clearly.

As for servicing, i got $600 servicing voucher and thus i go to SportsWagen. so far experience is ok. but NEVER EVER let them convince you to use Fully Synthetic Oil. just use Shell Mineral Oil. if you want synthetic oil, then use those specifically for Rotary Engine.

If you don't hv any servicing voucher from them, then go to Monster Garage for servicing, they are the experts in RX8.

thank you so much Veil_Side. I think i am just ignorant. First car and first time in my life dealing with PIs. Before that was all dealers i deal with for my dad's car. so sad that PIs are like vultures.

I will ask the next time when my loan approved and paying for the final deposit. Will get everything settled. Need to learn more from you next time. Cheers!!

no worries, we are here all the share our experience.

final advice, before you pay the remaining deposit, do make sure you've cleared all your doubt.
once they got your hard earned $$, it's your words against them, unless it's in black and white.

if you do have any other queries, do post them up here in the forum and i believe there are alot more experts here who are willing to share their experience and provide advice/s.

trust me, this car is a very good choice and i am loving it every day since i got my 8....haha

pretty much the same as yours,

2 tone leather seat, reverse sensor, solar film, floor mat, 12 disc changer, $600 servicing voucher, 6 months road tax

there are many more you can ask for, ie: sports rim, body kit, etc...

before you pay the deposit in full, u have the bargaining power. the most you forgo the "small" deposit to make them to oblige to you but of course you must be reasonable lar...

once you've paid deposit in full and sign the dotted line, then lower chance...

Hi CKZ,

I also just bought my 8 close to 2 months back from a PI.
Now i have gotten my COE already and my ride is due to arrive in town anytime soon, according to the agent.

I have posted in this forum some of the freebies I have gotten as well as some not so good experience with the agent. If you are interested, feel free to read them. Just search for threads started by me. It should be easy to find, there is only 2 of them.

thks

Hi CKZ,

Congrats and welcome to the family.

many a times i thought of selling my ride(itchy backside),
then i thought of what my next ride would be?

i keep asking myself, the perfect sports car better then the 8.
trust me, there isn't when you consider a balance of looks, $$$,
practicality, performance & handling and everyday drivabilty.

of course there are many exotic sports cars out there,
but at what price tag?

what i can gurantee you is many ravings from friends, colleagues and most importantly BABES on what a good looking sportscar you drive.
no other car at 95-96K will get you such reviews.

coming back to your topic, ask for freebies which are factory options.
such as foglights, aerokit, OEM spoiler, OEM 6 disc head unit,
maybe even rear foglight and most importantly what your warranty covers in
written details.

if the freebies that are given are aftermarket. PIs will always give u the cheapest
in the market be it CD changer, rims, tyres, solar flims, mats.
so be very specific of what u want/brand you want for freebies.

good luck and see you around : )

Hi CKZ,

Just to add my 2 cents worth...try to avoid taiwanese replica rims if you can... they're cheap and some are pretty good knockoffs, but aren't that reliable (experienced rusting on my previous ride). Even my PI advised against getting those even though they were ready to throw them into the deal if I was interested. Better to stick with the stock ones that are made in Japan or go for original forged aftermarket ones if you are so inclined.

Cheers and hope you get your ride soon!
