Talking I Got Mine!!!

Yes! Drove my black beauty home this afternoon - man this is one sweet car! A minor shower was going on, and the water slid right off the water repellant glass. :D

An Impreza Sti driver was doing triple takes, slowing down, tailing me, etc :D

Engine is a gem - smoooooth!

I think I have been grinning non-stop since I got the car! :D :D

Congrates on your new found love!

I've just miss you when i went down GarageR this afternoon. I've wanted to see the black in person since. Just saw the Titanium and Red there in the garage. The titanium looks gorgeous!! Better then the Red, I think.

They told me that they have a yellow 8 coming in 2 weeks time. I wanna see the black and yellow in flesh before putting down that deposit:D

Since the rear glass issue has not resolved, how did you manage to drive home your baby? Anyway, how's the drive back home? Can share a little more about what you think of the car.

Titanium looks more subtle than the red. But under the sun, the red looks superb with the gold flakes shining through!

The drive home...well the car is as good as what everyone says! Body feels very solid, gave me the same feeling as my brother's 911 C4S! Then again, I could of course be overjoyed at driving my new car! :D Suspension is firm yet supple, and going over bumps demonstrates the solidity of the body - no crashiness whatever.

Gear shift is very "snick-snick", throttle pedal is quite light, clutch is nicely weighted, almost the same as my VR6, steering is extremely communicative, and speed variable in weight. Pretty direct as well. I was caught up in a traffic jam along PIE - no worries there! Car had more than adequate low down oomph to switch lanes easily.

Black looks very fierce in person...reminds me a little bit of the batmobile! :D

Interior quality is top notch, looks and feels substantial, and way better than the 350Z, IMO.

All in all, I now truly believe that I have made the right choice in getting the RX-8 over the Evo 8. This is a car that makes me smile (or grin) when I just look at it!

Ok, I'm off to look at her now! :D

When you look at an EVO, you just want to laugh (or cry).

Hi Fab 8,

Thought so.....just confirmed with LTA that no RX8 registered yet.

Anyway, I've managed to get a deal thru P.I that provides me a special warranty....

If any one of you out there is interested....you may want to check them out ...

Cheers

Hi M-ster,

My friend is working with one of the Biggest PI. If you are keen to know more. You may call me at 96889882. Now my friend & myself have made booking already. Not sure if they allow me to mention this in public....because this special arrangement is personal.

Cheers

I have just seen the clear back windscreen at Garage R - original with Mazda stickers and all! Surprisingly light, and has all the rear demister and rubber surrounds attached. This piece was sent in via airfreight, and the rest will be here pretty soon.

Hopefully can get my car on the road in a couple of weeks' time! :D

Anyway, I think we should ask to see the original mazda stickers if these are really the glass from the States. I have heard that one PI has received the 2 rear windows from China, and these have been rejected by LTA as they apparently cannot be opened -ie they are glued on to the rear doors...!

If you don't mind, could you let us know which PI you booked your car from? Also, how are they providing the warranty and servicing? Are they linked up to some workshop or do they have their own mechanics? Thanks!

As for me, I'm pretty pleased with my PI (Garage R) - they have been very proactive in updating me on the status of the car, then the glass, etc. Also, they have just informed me that their workshop will be bringing in the diagnostic systems from Japan, as well as the HKS rotary oil for servicing.

Well as for me...I got it from EZ. Kida San told me that his workshop JUn Taiyo had sent a mechanic to Mazda for training. Thus most likely will stick with them for servicing...as they are in the west.

As for mods...most likely will go down to Garage R....

Spoke to June Vice President Koyama (hope that spelling is correct) it seems that lots of tuning house in Japan had managed to break a few engine already in attempt to try to get more hp, it seems that some try to change the exhaust that resulted in loss of hp; hence advice from him to keep it relatively stock first and wait for more R&D from Japan. As the engine is still new, no one knows the reliabilty of some of the mods!!!

guys, was reading the tread on dyno and it seems quite disappointing with 184hp at the wheel for the type S, some claims computer haolding back full throttle for run in, anyone has any view on this!!! if the car is really only doing 184hp, i will be very sad as it will be a repeat of history for myself when i bought the fto that only dyno 126hp at the wheel.

Yeah, will wait for tuners to come out with more stuff first before mods. Anyway our cars aren't on the roads yet, so can afford to wait a while.

The dyno posts are indeed worrying. Hopefully the 250ps is not the same case as the mivec engines which can only give the quoted power by using low sulphur and high octane (100+) petrol!

Yeah the dyno does seems to be very dissappointing. I was trying to search on the web any Japanese Type S dyno but so far still nothing.

Hey guys,
well either from GarageR or EZ I've heard (so far) pretty good comments about them. GarageR - a family ran business, so they are there to commit themselves and the bros has known for doing and fixing quite a bit of the FD's here in Singapore. And as for EZ, they are back up by STPowered, again a pretty well know tune shop who does quite a fare bits of 7's as well.
So hopefully they are equally experience to handle the 8's as time to come.

by the way 2F2F, if there are any info which you like to share but thinks that it's too sensitive to share over this public forum, check out the P/M button at the bottom of each indiviual post. That means Private Message
