HKG SE3P Thread

Any of you from Hong Kong??

patrick331 05-03-2006 08:21 AM

Here I am. I was just checking your web site yesterday. What is your update on the 350hp RX8?? Mine is a A/T, would it fit? I'm actually very glad to see someone from HK at last!!!!

SE3P_HKG 05-04-2006 01:27 PM

Hi Patrick

I am glad to meet you here, too. We are waitng for the goodies to arrive! The kit will fit A/T but would not recommend to run such high boost.

patrick331 05-04-2006 01:51 PM

Hi,
Are you Philip?
Anyway, I'm so glad to see someone from HK is really putting their interest in RX8. Such a nice car but people here is only focusing in BIG BIG branding. Keep me posted on your RX8 project!
One more thing, what about the Odyssey battery? I want to change to a new one but most of the mod shop i go to doesnt any fit RX8. What would be the price?
Thanks and I will pay a visit to your shop soon........
Patrick

SE3P_HKG 05-04-2006 11:52 PM

Hi Patrick

I am Bem, a good friend of Phillip. Yes, the RX-8 is a very nice car indeed and it is fun to get away from the 4 and 6 cylinders for once! Haa haa....

I think people doesn't want to mess with Rotary engine as there is only one 1 or 2 shops that has exprience with it. Look at how many RX-7 around??

I wonder how many RX-8 are running in HKG?? I have seen a couple driving around but not many. What colour is yours?? Is it a grey import? My one is white with full MS kit.

The turbo kit is in the process of manufacturing and other goodies from US and JPN should arrive by late May, early June. Also, we have fabricated a set of titanium exhaust, which cut half of it's weight. Not sure how it will sound but it should be good!!

Odyssey battery, I will bring one PC 1200MJT in for the RX-8. Would you like to join the order? However, with freight, this battery is not cheap at all! The battery alone is HK$1,450 but shipping has to be find out.

Yes, please visit our shop soon. Call in before hand, so that you can meet up with Phillip!

Bem

patrick331 05-05-2006 05:43 AM

Hi Bem,

Pleasure to meet you and we might see each other sometime. Guess what, mine is white too but with MS front bumper only. Side and back are in Mazda oem stuffs & no wing. Look a bit weird so I'm looking into changing to another set of bodykit which cheap. Anyway, I got it last year from Richburg and I think white is the best best color among all. I think HK has no more than 40 RX8 running or even less than this no cost it's really rare.

I agree with you that no one here in hk is dare to touch the rotary and i think you are the first & only who is actually touching & modifying it.

The price of the battery sound ok with me as I was asking around for the battery for at least 6 months, count me in, if you need some sort of deposit, i will go down to your shop anytime next week if you needed so. Just let me know the freight later. Oh! But mine is A/T, it shouldn't be a problem, right?

I also changed the muffler as well. It's custom made in 'Choi Hung' for 3 or 4 months now. But I'm kindda regret it as it cost like 5.5K and 5.5K can get a better brand muffler with exhaust. How much you think the your titanium exhaust would cost? Just want to know.

Eager to see your 8 with all those mod. Keep up your good work... Let me know about the battery issues. Thanks!!!

Patrick

SE3P_HKG 05-05-2006 05:59 AM

Hey Patrick,

That's great!! Another white RX-8, haa haa.... But 40 RX-8 in town?? Ummm... I think there should be less than that, unless Mazda Hong Kong sold heaps, but I doubt it very much with $420k+ price tag!

Hey, we can offer good deal in good quality MS kit from Topmix!

I am checking the freight cost for the battery. I will included yours in my order but lets confirm the freight charge first before making any deposit. OK? Also, A/T is OK!

Ummm...$5.5K for Choi Hung muffler? Oh well, does it sound good?? If you are happy with it, then that's OK. The cat back Ti exhaust retail at $12k.

Yes, I can't wait for it to finish either!! I would like to meet up with you for a dribk someday!!

Bem

takahashi 05-05-2006 06:14 AM

Hi I am from Hong Kong too..

Although I basically live here now.

Do you know BoyBoyDan. Daniel Chan drives a red one for a long time now. I think he is the one that muck around at the Top Racing at Kowloon Tong.

patrick331 05-05-2006 06:37 AM

Hi Bem,
Thanks and I will wait for your advice on the battery and sure we should meet up for drink. Think about your gorgeous white rx8 on the street. Wow!!
Anyway, I'm not really happy with the muffler I have and the 12K sound good to me after a month or so..... May be i will change it later as I have to change my tyre now & I have do some paint job on my front & back bumper cost a I got hit by a taxi. Also, what do you think about AD07 and RE050A? Which is better? I'm more into AD07 as comfort is what I care more about.
I have so much about my 8 and wanted to have someone who knows it to talk about.......
Also for the bodykit, what do you think about the au-to bahn? Check out this web site. http://www.autobahnsports.jp/lineup/rx8index.html Can topmix copy and roduce it in much cheaper price? I got 15K HKD from a Japan dealer exclude shipping.
Let talke more later... Beer time!!!
Patrick

patrick331 05-05-2006 06:41 AM

Hi Takahashi,
Why a Japanese name? You're in USA now? I actually read a lot about you on this forum and I know you travel to HK and Macau. I dont know anyone who own 8 in HK and Bem is the frist one. For a year (Have to renew my licence this month), no more than 10 rx8 i can see on the street. Most of them are red. I live HK side and does not go to Kowloon much. I was thinking of gathering a group 8 for joy ride......

takahashi 05-05-2006 07:00 AM

Patrick

Takahashi... are you serious? Don't you watch cartoon? haha... my Jap teacher's name in HK was Takahashi.... she was so cute :p

No I am in Melbourne, Australia. My joy ride in on the race track. There are 4 race tracks near Melbourne within 2 hours of driving. :p Sandown, Winton, Calder and Philip Island. No I cannot go to Albert Park - I will lose my licence. :p

I also keen on defending my title as the fastest modifying 8 among the forumers next October's Australian RX-8 Nationals *I know I cannot compete with the factory guys. :p

I will get Daniel to meet you all. He lives in the mid level and he is also keen and mod his car to N-th degree already, (no turbo yet).

That bastard has a lot of MazdaSpeed stuff :p

I more into handling and brake mod at the moment. I installed the Tein Flex that I order from GP motor early this year and it has been good; although I think I need strong spring once I know all the Victorian track better. I also in the process getting a AP 4 pot caliper fitted and some Project Mu stuff. Do you guys use project mu?

We should form a little Hong Kong corner here... I have been keep in touch with things in HK and still watch the TVB in satellite...

patrick331 05-05-2006 10:10 AM

Boye! You have a Japanese teacher and Cute one!!! amazing......
I've been to gold coast for diving one time and it was a great place. But the cost is so high.
As you know, there are no track here in HK so im really envy you guys. Anyway, we have some project Mu stuff here but not alot. Definitely much much more mod item in aus and usa plus it cost a lot more here as well.

Genesis 05-05-2006 10:27 AM

Patrick, Bem....I've been to HK many times. Out of curiousity, where do you guys take your 8 for a decent (that is, fast) drive? Certainly not in Central or TST so how are the roads into New Territories or where else do you go that allows you to really flex your car properly on decent roads?

SE3P_HKG 05-05-2006 10:36 AM

Hi Patrick

Thanks and I will wait for your advice on the battery and sure we should meet up for drink. Think about your gorgeous white rx8 on the street. Wow!!

Yes I will keep you posted and may be get together for drink next week?

Anyway, I'm not really happy with the muffler I have and the 12K sound good to me after a month or so..... May be i will change it later as I have to change my tyre now & I have do some paint job on my front & back bumper cost a I got hit by a taxi. Also, what do you think about AD07 and RE050A? Which is better? I'm more into AD07 as comfort is what I care more about.

Yes, when you ready to do your Ti exhaust, let me know, I will organise for you. PM me your email address, I will send you pics of the exhaust. As for tyres, between AD07 and RE050A, I would go for AD07 for its performance. Also, we have tested Hankook Ventus R-S2 gives very good performance for its dollar.

I have so much about my 8 and wanted to have someone who knows it to talk about.......

Haa haa... I am learning the car everyday but it is great to meet a good friend here.

Also for the bodykit, what do you think about the au-to bahn? Check out this web site. http://www.autobahnsports.jp/lineup/rx8index.html Can topmix copy and roduce it in much cheaper price? I got 15K HKD from a Japan dealer exclude shipping.

At this moment Topmix only have the mould for MS kit. If you would like the Au-to Bahn Sport kit, we can get a price for you if you like.

Have a good night,

Bem

I am from Canberra!! I was there for 12 years before returning to HKG. The track I most familiar would be Wakefield Park! I love that little circuit, it will be nice to have something like this in HKG.

I also keen on defending my title as the fastest modifying 8 among the forumers next October's Australian RX-8 Nationals *I know I cannot compete with the factory guys. :p

Good luck with you racing!! You go and show some HKG colours for us!

I am glad you find those Tein Flex worked well for you. Tein do offer firmer rate springs. Talk to "Chi Wai" of GP Motor, he will give you good advice. I will be using Zeal Function-X for mine. As for your AP Racing calipers, they will serve you good on track. What kind of discs will you be using? We have good experience with Endless Type MA22B pads, which is most racing guys using in Hong Kong. Also, it is good to mate with Endless RF-650 brake fuild. I will be using Endless 6pot with 355mm discs.

We should form a little Hong Kong corner here... I have been keep in touch with things in HK and still watch the TVB in satellite...

Damn right, we should mate!

I think it will cost more to get JPN parts in Australia due to import duty, which we don't have in HKG. However, you are right, there is so much more track in each state in AUS and so much cheaper to race too! Racing in HKG is just too damn expensive!

Actually, we have many road that are good for driving. Hong Kong, Repulse Bay to Deep Water Bay. N.T., Tai Mo Shan and Luk Geng. Or the major Highway route to the Airport and return to Tai Po. It is the timing that we have to pick. Usually, Sunday early morning is the best.

Hey Bem,
Next week is good. I can go to fotan to meet up at anytime. Just let me know. My e-mail is patrick.yu@yahoo.com
I have the pic of your Ti Exhaust from kc racing site. It look good, just the $ issues................... cos my wife..........
anyway, i live in pokfulam, i was just out and take a ride at victoria road. my engine started to have some funny noise like an old time taxi. I think it's because of the timing belt from the engine or alternator... i'm looking into SR motor pulley and belts, what do you think?
Second thought, if topmix can give a good price on MS side skirt and rear low bumper, i would be really interest as I can save the money for other mod like supension, i was contacting Phil from DPE, a vendor here, for Koni shocks and Tanabe GF210 springs. Patrick

patrick331 05-05-2006 12:20 PM

And Taka, not much place to fast drive. I think Bem have already named all places or road or strret or highway that we can really drive a little bit fast. There are a lot of camera now and government is getting more and more. I was just pulled over by a cop yesterday and said my licence plate does not have FLAT end/tail on each number/letter which does not comply with the law. He gave me a warning and ask me to "Do something about it".. Jeee.............

Yeah I will talk to GP Motor... Anita said someone used Swift Titanium spring with Teins... I must know more about that. Envy that you have the Endless stuff. AP racing I am getting is slightly cheaper calculating the postage. Do you need a spacer for clearance of your stock wheel?

I am planning to have Project Mu pad (with HC+) in the front that suits AP racing caliper, Project Mu rotor in the front (SCR-PRO), Project Mu HC+ for the rear with DBA rotor slotted.

I have stainless brake lines for the front that comes with the caliper but eventually I will change the brake and clutch line too.

I do track at Wakefield. In fact the Nationals meet is in Wakefield. Last year I did a 1:14.8 to win the trophy. This year I think I need to do a 1:13 or better since everyone is getting more mods and familiar with the track. I am having semislick for those. I use Bridgestone RE55S.

My home track is Sandown where i do a consistent 1:33 with the best time of 1:31. I also do Winton which I clocked 1:43.6 for the first time there.

I check out what other people do with their time at www.natsoft.com.au (in the race timing link there).

For example here is the RX-8 Nationals
http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/re...2/10/2005.WAKE

Chu Hoi is very close to HK right? But I heard from Daniel that it cost $10K to race?
$20K can hire Wakefield for a day!

Next week is good. I can go to fotan to meet up at anytime. Just let me know. My e-mail is patrick.yu@yahoo.com

That's great, I will try to meet up with you next week. Keep your eyes out for the inbox.

I have the pic of your Ti Exhaust from kc racing site. It look good, just the $ issues................... cos my wife..........

Yes, I understand. Woman has to come before car (the 2nd wife) or else you will have a really tough life!! Haa haa... let me know when you are ready!

anyway, i live in pokfulam, i was just out and take a ride at victoria road. my engine started to have some funny noise like an old time taxi. I think it's because of the timing belt from the engine or alternator... i'm looking into SR motor pulley and belts, what do you think?

For a car so new, I doubt there will be any trouble with the timing or alternator belt. Did you check the oil level from time to time? The rotary do drink oil and may need topping up. As for the SRM pulley, I have ordered SRM's Wide Grip Belt Complete Pulley Kit, would you like to get a set? My shipment is still pending by them, you can join in to save some freight!

Second thought, if topmix can give a good price on MS side skirt and rear low bumper, i would be really interest as I can save the money for other mod like supension...

I will email you pricing with paint and installation to you.

I was contacting Phil from DPE, a vendor here, for Koni shocks and Tanabe GF210 springs. Total US535 shock +US160 spring+ US$250 shipping. Not bad!! I was thinking of getting this. how much are those Zeal? Are they comfort for daily ride? I drive my 8 like a taxi, I ran over 24000km in one year....

Your driving milage is very similar to my Audi, haa haa... like a taxi!

The Zeal has two types on offer, Function-X w/ height adjustment and 30 settings at retail HK$19,800 and Function-Xs adjustment and 6 settings at retail HK$17,160. Both of them can be setup for road, fast road and race use, so you have no problem driving through Cross Harbour Tunnel, Haa haa.... Also, you can consider Tein Comfort Sport, height adjustable w/ 16 settings at retail HK$9,700.

All pricing above is for indication only, OK ;) email or PM me for any final price. Also, I personally don't like Koni as they have oil leaking problem with HKG road condition. If you would like to minimise the swaying of the car, may be you should consider sway bars first, which SRM has some to offer, also, Tanabe. The rest of the brand is too small for my liking.

Email me for time and I'll meet you up at kc

Yes, for sure!

Swift spring is widely used by many racing team in JPN and HKG, including ours! By the way, we are the winner of 2005 Macau CTM Cup :mdrmed: The Endless kit we will install does not need any spacers.

I am planning to have Project Mu pad (with HC+) in the front that suits AP racing caliper, Project Mu rotor in the front (SCR-PRO), Project Mu HC+ for the rear with DBA rotor slotted.

We have not much experience with Project Mu, please let us know the result. I am sure they are pretty good.

I have stainless brake lines for the front that comes with the caliper but eventually I will change the brake and clutch line too.

It is a good a idea to do it for racing!

The RE55S is a very very good choice, it's shame that we don't easily get it here.

Chu Hoi is very close to HK right? But I heard from Daniel that it cost $10K to race?
$20K can hire Wakefield for a day!

Yes, Choi Hung is in Sun Po Kong, KLN.

Yes, track days in HKG is not cheap at all. It is done like a holiday package with application document, accomdation, food and track hire. It is much more difficult than you think. We have done one this year www.eurospeedayhk.com. Tough organising but alot of fun indeed.

I will email him this link. There was once a guy from Macau having a Veilside kit too... his car is red and with a huge GT wing....

That's great! I would like to meet them here.

patrick331 05-07-2006 04:46 AM

Cool, I will keep tracking of my inbox. I did check the oil level and it's seem ok. I've just changed the oil 2 weeks ago. Appox 1000km. For the Wide Pulley Kit, i love to order one as well. But does it really help in smoothing the ride and also the hp+? I've just look into all thread and their dyno result, it only push up the hp after around 100km/h. Looks like it as of no help in daily ride. Also, there seem to be quite a few negative comments on the forum as well.

Thanks for your help on the bodykit and I will wiat for your email. No rush!

Wow! the price on Zeal looks far off my budget and Koni really have oil leaking problem? Checked out the Teim comfort sport, is it newly developed? It's sound good and good price too. Let me think think sin... For sway bar, I was thinking about it too but I like to modify car one by one so I can really see the diff between this and that...... My wife gonna kill me if she see the car with all those things......

The pulley set will not increase hp but helps the engine rev up quicker but there is less load on the wheel, which works similar to a lightened flywheel. The negative is the alternator may not charge the battery as quick as it used to because of the underdrive crank pulley. However, I have been used under drive pulley on my other cars, it works fine. Let me know if you are still interested.

Thanks for your help on the bodykit and I will wiat for your email. No rush!

No problem, I should know pricing of the bodykit and Odyssey tomorrow.

Is your budget around HK$10,000? Tein Comfort Sport will work fine for street and you can install Tein's EDFC to control the suspension setting in your car. Anyway, I will find out pricing for both Tein CST and Zeal Function-X's. But before the suspension, you may consider installing the swaybar first, as you feel more of the effect than sport suspension.

Haa haa... Unless your better half is very sensative with your ride. Otherwise, all under body work like suspension, exhaust, ECU and intake should be OK, Right? :fingersx:

Ask the moderator....

Tein Mono Flex is looking good and coming out this month.

I am eagerly waiting to see what the Tein Super Racing :) can do.

Are you using Endless mini (compact) 6pot system kit? I heard from Endless USA that you need a 5mm spacer.?? :dunno:

Tein Mono Flex is how much? It is not going to be far from $10000. I got Tein Flex with EDFC for $11400.

I also suggest getting sway before changing the coilover. The stock suspension is very good and certainly good enough for track :mdrmed:

Hi Taka

This is the Ti exhaust I mentioned earlier. It offers 45% weight saving.

We ordered the 6 big pot from JPN Endless, there is no need for spacers.

Some big ass American lies... :)

How I should have cancel my AP order

Damn.... ;). I race with it I guess AP is better :)

Nice exhaust by the way. No problem with the 02 sensor position you have in your cat?

takahashi 05-08-2006 08:35 AM

Hang on big 6 pot... do you need 19" for these???

The Endless system the Endless offers is for 18"

Man I cannot have 19" - there is no slick made in 19"

I am keeping my AP order LOL.

Talking about wheels - how much is a Volks 18" x 8.5" Volks CE28N is selling there? How about the TE37?

SE3P_HKG 05-08-2006 08:43 AM

This Ti exhaust will install for the turbo kit, running straight pipe. But for the NA version, we will offer standard cat. or high flow cat.

The Endless could run 355mm and 328mm disc, both could fit to 18" rim without hassles. Especially to rims like TE37 and CE28N, which is designed for big calipers.

As for the wheels, I have to do a price check for you.

Since Im from HK, thought I'd jump into this thread too...
Is getting autoexe parts from HK lot cheaper??
But even so... shipping is still a nightmare. :P

I have the project mu calipers, and you know, it DID NOT clear my 19" TE37s.. it really depends on offset. I had 19 x8.5 +43 before, I have now 17 x 9.0 +35 offset. now it clears. I would say about 3- 5mm clearance. not that much. hope this helps. :P

takahashi 05-08-2006 08:29 PM

+43 may not clear.

It is really depends on the design of the spokes :(

Now I think I should get another set of Enkei RP 03 for track :(

Hmm I wonder where I can get a set of TE37 to try on :)

Try contact Super GT in Hong Kong, they offer very good pricing. However, you are right, shipping can be expensive. It is better to buy direct from JPN for you.

Hey SE3P_HKG, how about feed stuff? I really like the final gear, but so far, not many US vendors carry them.

Dont know whens the next time I will visit HK again, but will defn like to check out what parts there are out there. :D

SE3P_HKG 05-08-2006 10:24 PM

Ummm... that's good, I can get those Status racing seats to fit! Coolnanas!

As for FEED stuff, have you ever thought of buying direct from FEED or www.ooparts-international.co.jp or www.japanparts.com?? ??

mazdaexe 05-09-2006 11:36 AM

Actually, I got a quote from japanparts a while ago. Just in the search for even cheaper resources. :P thx though!

Guys how much is the AP racing caliper in Hong Kong.

Say, CP 5200 and the CP 6600?

SE3P_HKG 05-16-2006 07:27 AM

I believe it won't be much cheaper than dealers in AUS. However, I highly recommend you to contact my buddy Martin Notaras at www.bsmsport.com.au. He is the expert on racing brakes in Australia!

takahashi 05-16-2006 07:45 AM

Thanks dude.

I already made contact with Ric Shaw in here and ordered a set. AUD$2500 with caliper CP6600, lines, brake pad (shit one) and spacer for stock wheels.

I also got Project mu, endless and Seido-Ya to make pad for me. Eventually I went for Project Mu since they have rotors for me as well.

boyboydan 05-16-2006 07:48 AM

Hey guys! I am from HK too and own a RX-8 (red one). Been modifying it and I love this car!! heeee! :naughty: I only wish there is more torque.......

SE3P_HKG 05-16-2006 07:56 AM

Taka, please keep me posted with the Project Mu pads... I am very interested with its performance. Also, for the calipers, you can also consider CP5788, the best AP calipers for touring cars!

SE3P_HKG 05-16-2006 07:57 AM

boyboydan, we should get together one day with Patrick and have a dinner together!!
