Hi guys,

Need some advice.

Since yesterday morning, I notice that this engine oil fluid level signal flashes on and off in the morning but after a while it does not appear anymore. Tried looking at my car manual but its in japanese as its parallel import 4AT RX8. I can't figure out what is written inside.
But the fluid level meter is still above the halfway mark.

So what does this signal mean?
Does it mean to change the engine oil already? I just changed it to castrol synthetic at 1000km. My mileage is only 4600+km only now.

Are you sure it's the oil? There is a level detector in the COOLANT container, in front of the battery, maybe top it up a bit.

If the oil light flashes, it usually happens around 130kph, the oil gets a bit foamy, there is a recall for that, for a new oil pan.

I hope you are aware that the rotary do consume engine oil... you would need to check the oil level on and off, and top it off if need be. I would say, why dont you just top off the oil and see if the signal still flashes.

 

CASTROL SYNTHETIC????????????????????? R u sure this is the right oil to use????

in any case, u have to make sure wat the logo is. Is it ur coolant level or ur check engine light logo???

I will drop by my workshop to have it checked later.

The workshop assigned by the PI is like so lousy and don't know much about RX8.
They topped up my engine oil when i went for my 1st servicing with Caltex 5W/40 and told me the next change is at 10000km.
The problem is if i change workshop, i lose my warranty.

Sigh......

NO. read up on engine oil in the forum.... posted many times.

 

10,000km later??? do u noe its best to change oil at every 5000km interval, regardless mineral or synthetic oil. This is the rotary engine, not normal piston engine or boxer. And take note, if u cun find any other synthetic oil, dun chin chye use. U will choke n damage the engine. Use mineral oil since thats commonly found.

Whos ur PI? Thw way i look at it, the Pi workshop may screw up ur car instead of helping u to solve ur prob.

 

boss,tats the purpose of the PI mah..."aiyo,my frd's uncle's cousin's elder bro's mech ever said rotary engine nt suitable 4 spore liao...here,here,here,juz cam in new model,sure betteler then ARler X 8,& bery suitable to use here,i can gv u Liscount on tis,put heart,put heart....

 

hahahaahahahaha..... rotary engine not suitable for spore.... my rx8 inside is boxer engine, GTI (got turbo inside) somemore.... hahahaha

very interesting... anyone used mobil1 synthetic engine oil on ur beloved rotary engine???
