Thought the MM/PI have install the shield to pevent the heat... till have this problem....? :confused:

egg...the heat shield is at the back, a metal plate that surrounds the top of the muffler only, have a look under yer car.

One question , any one knows if heat "kill" rust?

Cos if the ship exhaust is made of steel it will rust right? but if its constantly heat up at high temp. will rust still occurs?

DO NOT wrap your midpipe/CAT., i just take it out & the wrap is totally damage, i have CEL due to the O2 sensor heated, need to replace a new O2 sensor

I took a closer look at the bottom of our car (when I install my sway bars)

The exhaust pipes is slightly outwards or away from where the console is. Its the drivetrain that is closest to the console. so I believe that most of the heat comes from the drivetrain and it would also be useless to wrap the pipes

P.S : whats the thing that connects the engine to the rear wheel?
is it calll a drive train? but anyway our car is rear wheel drive so its the big thing that connects the front engine to the rear wheel that is creating most of the heat

the thing is called a diffrential.

'Console' which I believe you're referring to is the front portion, as in where the gear shift and front part of the console box (cup holder). The heat there, are mainly genernated from the transmission, not so much the drivetrain.
Drivetrain, is more like a package, which includes the propeller shaft that connect from the transmission, to the differential, which then connected to the drive shaft to the wheels.
So I believe you're trying to say that the heat are from the transmission. Which is correct.

Well like wat tems900 mentioned, dont wrap the pipes! If you seriously wanting to reduce the heat in the cabin. Try covering the under chassis (for the exterior) with heat repelling matt. That will probably requirer you to drop the tranny inorder to do proper job. Or a more simple job would be doing it from the interior, which might not be as effective though.

this stuff is the shit ive got the dei brand on my Kawasaki KX 450 head pipe which if trail ridin is most always cherry and was burning my riding paints, after wraping it, there is really noticable lower heat temp and no melted riding gear I plan to wrap every thing i was thinking of even the intake this would have to cool the intake air temp.

This has been used extensively in car races and so it has more or less proven its worth.

But in the long run, I strongly discouraged against it bcos I've heard of extractors that cracked using it. Maybe it was just hearsay so don't take my word for it.

Unless the installer can guarantee it is safe, I'm not trying it.

Tems900 I am curious as to what happened to your midpipe when you took the wrap off, I just got finished wrapping my midpipe in DEI exhaust wrap and then put a black coating of their silicone covering. I have not put it on yet so I want to know if it does damage to anything???
