Heat reflective wrap or ceramic cloth question?

Hot day yesterday and I really felt our front "warming oven"transforming itself into a micorwave oven.

I read a while ago about a solution -- heat reflecting materials coating the undercarriage where the tranny and exhaust is or a ceramic cloth wrapping the exhaust.

I apologise but don't seem to be able to find out (in our search) the suggestion/conclusion of which is better. I suspect insulating the inside of the front console would work... just delaying the inevitable.

Does the heat reflect material work or the ceramic wrap? Also where can I gte then?

Thanks guys.

well, frankly, the wraps do help a little,bt dun xpect drastic improvements.the heat is cause by the 'cat' below wich is a heat soaker xpecially on a hot noon.reflective type,u can gt fr GR;made by Billion(jap).xhos wrap wise,GR do hv them,bt branded 1 lar.or u can juz drop by those xhos wkshops, they hv them @ a more affordable rate.

Umm Try the Thermotec products.. pretty good

Apologies: I did another search and the results came out better this time. The conclusion was not to use the ceramic wraps on the exhausts? It apparently causes damage to the O2 sensors?

Another solution is to get a better oil cooler?

Or use the heat reflecting shields around the drivetrain?

Its been a few months since this issue was last brought up. For those guys who had it done -- ceramic wrap, thermotec or heat reflectors -- who sort of longer term results have you found?

I wanted to do a wrap on the Cat and Exhaust too. till I did a second and long look under the car.

IF u look closely and carefully, the Parts directly under our center console is the Drivetrain , transmission and diffrential,
ITs where the gear shift and front part of the console box (cup holder). The heat there, are mainly genernated from the transmission, and the drivetrain.
Drivetrain, is like a package, which includes the propeller shaft that connect from the transmission, to the differential, which then connected to the drive shaft to the wheels.

And Tem900 did the wrap on his cat and midpipe and this is what happen
"DO NOT wrap your midpipe/CAT., i just take it out & the wrap is totally damage, i have CEL due to the O2 sensor heated, need to replace a new O2 sensor

Read this Heat Wrap over exhaust pipe

Thanks Morgan. Howere, what's our conclusion? Can't do a thing about it and just copntinue to use it to keep our sandwiches warm with it? Taka had mentioned something about an oil cooler solution to lower the overall temp. What do you think of that? A heat reflecting solution is not possible around the drivetrain area?

Exactly which part of the car do you wanna cool down? And wat's the purpose of doing so?
:Wconfused

Do Not do any heat wrap or coating on the mid pipe/cat or header(not sure on this but take a look on this link https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-multimedia-photo-gallery-6/video-red-hot-headers-renisis-82753/). unless u ready to paid $250 on O2 sensor & more $ on some other might damage parts.

my oem cat. or exh. temp is around 750degree when cruise & 850degree under full throttle acceleration, & this data was collected during cooling Dec05 night time, but i don't mind somebody try coating or heat wrap e header to see what the aftermath :naughty: remember we r in Sillypore :fingersx:

Can try the custom made midpipe with racing cat around $500 from ManEhaust but might cause CEL on some car, or buy e tested RE or Rmagic or Revolution Mid pipe with/cat. & also add on e LTA approved Fujitsobo exh. if u want to spend more money, all this help to reduce some temp in e center console

Another way is to remove the plastic center console from with in the car and u will be able to see the metal part beneath it,

Then add some insulator onto this metal part. so that it will reduce the heat from passing from the metal part to the plastic console into the car.
