Has anyone gotten the Mazda Aerostyle Kit installed on their AT?

Hi folks,

There're many nice aftermarket bodykits for the 8 available but my options are limited due to significant ground clearance issues at work and home. Am thinking of getting the simple Mazda aerostyle kit as it suits my situation the best and complements the lines of the car without being too OTT.

However, most information about the kit I've read online state that its not meant for the AT model. Have a couple of questions I hope someone out there can shed some light on:

1. Why isn't the front air dam suitable for the AT model? Took a look at the front bumper/undercarraige area of my 8 trying to visualise the air dam and it doesn't appear to block the stock air intake or anything else...I understand that the stock black plastic air dam has to be removed first before fitting the aftermarket air dam...is there a difference between the MT and AT parts?...am curious to find out more.

2. Has anyone actually have it fitted onto their AT, and have you experienced any problems since its technically not meant for the AT model?

Cheers!

You can indeed put the appearance package on an AT version. the reference you are refering to is a little vague on that point. The misses and I ordered ours with the front airdam and front and rear splash guards, but not the side aero flares as we weren't to impressed with that part of the package.

Where have you read that the Mazda aerostyle kit is not meant for ATs? Either the information is wrong or you interpret it wrongly. Many ATs have this kit. No problem whatsoever.

I got the info off the Mazda USA website and the Official Japanese Mazda RX8 catalogue...can't blame a man for asking if the official channels suggest otherwise...

Here are the links that made me pose my questions...

1. Mazda USA states that the front air dam is not for AT cars. Its also stated as a footnote in their 2006 RX8 brochure.

http://accessories.mazdausa.com/weba...08+RX-8#162053

2. The Japanese shop options catalogue has a note that appears to be saying the same thing, that the front air dam is not for use with the Grille Trim Ring and AT models.

(Its a flash website so I can't cut and paste the exact link - go to http://www.rx-8.mazda.co.jp/ and click on the accessories button on the menu, and download the PDF shop options catalogue (around 7 MB) at the bottom of the page.

I wonder why....

Interesting links, but so far no problems with our local ATs with Mazda aero kits. Happy shopping.
