erm i wan to buy a new car, i m interested in dc5, ss2 & rx8
but got a few question to ask
hope u all can help =)
the 250hp rx8 can beat dc5 & ss2?
the 210hp will loss to dc5 & ss2 right?
what the price of the 210 version & the 250 version now?
how the mod potential of the rx8? not interested in FI, only NA
able to reach 300hp by staying NA & still 1.3?

Hi, if ur lookin 4 an all out performance car tt can beat this n tt then i suggest u dun choose the rx8... please go for a typical boy racer type r dc5... if u r very concerned abt the speed n performance the type r dc5 has far more mod potential... the 8 should be able to reach 300 hp but does tt matter??? high hp with low torque = same... there is a balance for everythin.... give n take... and its quite impossible to upgrade the 1.3 litre ROTARY engine ...

if u r talking abt stock vs stock, the rx8 will beat the other 2 on track. Y track, becos track got bends. If u toking abt straight lines, then rx8 may not be the choice.

- 250hp can beat dc5r and ss2. SS2 is rather crappy. No offence, celica owners. But again, its how u handle the car.

- 210hp = auto version. Yes, lose to dc5 and ss2. U cun compare an auto with manuals anyway.

- Pricing wise, 210hp is ard 103k. Theres no more jdm 250hp. No one bringing in. Mazda motors rx8 is detuned to 231hp. U cun feel the difference in 19hp. Its only figures anyway. MM retailing at ard 132k.

- mod potential, u can change everything from intake to muffler and tuned the ecu, but hitting 300 horses staying NA is still very difficult. Y wld u wan so high horses? Too fast too furious? Like wat cannavaro says, u wan a straight out performance car, go for DC5R or even EVOs or WRXes (altho i dun even consider the DC5R to be a performance car. I tink stock vs stock or equivalent mod vs mod, rx8 can still chiet dc5r hands down). RX8 is not in this category. If u wan a headturner car, then rx8 is the choice. Go down orchard road in the 8 and chances are u will turn more heads than the other choices here if u dress up ur car nicely.

notice that i did not even mention the ss2. Iin terms of looks and performance ss2 cun really compare.

end of the day, ask urself wat do u really wan? Looks? Style? Performance? RX8 gives u the perfect balance. DC5R and SS2 are the typical boy racer car. Put urself into either one, chances are, pple will call u an ah beng.... agree??

i'm surprised they are still bringing in when they cun compete the selling price and specs that MM is offering....

People will pay money if its better. I mean we 8 owners will not buy it if we mind the money in the first place considering at least 50% of the cars on the road now costs 50k or less.

Its just the world is. Thats why we have more than 200 ferraris hwere in SG.

Did u see the TopGear review of the RX-8? Jeremy Clarkson threw the RX-8 around the track and declared it the best car he drove that year. They also timed the RX-8 around the track, and got the same track timing as the BMW M3 and Nissan 350Z, which on paper has higher specs than the RX-8.

It really depends on the race situation. Traffic light to traffic light, the RX-8 is not the car for drag racing. But throw in enough distance and some corners, the RX-8 will match higher horsepower cars with its handling.

If you're looking for powerful performance for sprints and on paper, nothing beats the WRX, esp. for the bang for the buck. But the Subaru can't match the RX-8 for handling fun and looks... So it really depends on what you're looking for in a car...

actually in the Best Motoring - Rotary reborn disc, the RX8 is the second last car on the track at Tsukuba. they lined up at the grid as follows MX5(NB), RX8, DC5-typeR, S2000, Skyline coupe and WRX. RX8 just doesn't have the torque/power on the straights to win.

dats y i say straights, rx8 cun make it... but on bends, thats where u see the beauty of the 8.

aiyoh...you ask our fellow 8 owners in this forum...of cos we lean more towards the 8...or else we buy the 8 for what right....hahaha. You go honda forum...ask them the same ques...they sure say the honda best this best that....or even the celica forum....sure slam the 8 here and there.

Since you already joined this forum...i guess you already know what car your heart really want..and just want some incentives to get the car.

my brother and myself got the car simply because it looks nicer than the rest that we were looking at.

Don't worry so much about performance lah...this is singapore...go at 120 your LP already start to shrink. Not say you will be going sepang or PG very often (my apologies if you are really a racer). The 8 itself is no slouch. there is sufficient power when you need it but who doesn't want more.

of cos....the 8 can get you the chicks if thats what you want to hear. ;)
