I recently went down to Garage R wanting to get spark plug but was poisoned instead

I'm really interested in the HKS air intake and had been told a lot of RX8 had did it...

Was wondering if anyone can give me any feedback on it?

Also those from MM... will it void our warranty?

 

1. All intakes design are similar. HKS price is high becos it is HKS.

2. changing to open pod, most pple say u will lose ur low end torque. I dun feel it.. maybe it wasnt obvious enuf... but high end torque very good - this is true!!

3. Once u change to open pod, u will nvr wan to put back ur stock air box again. Drive feel is better, and it definitely sounds better.

4. As for warranty.... very subjective... MM oso very vague.. but if any prob with the car, change back to stock filter then bring back MM lor....

5. So far HKS intake has no complaints yet, so its pretty safe to go for it.... but i still tink more than SGD1k for an intake with at most 1 - 2hp gain is not worth it lor..... The only consolation is ur drive feel is better.....

6. How come recently nvr come meet us.... not frenly leh.... :p

 

frankly lady,if u r worried bout warranty issue,dun touch the car @ all,serious....if tere's a claim dispute,anytin & everytin can b 'argued'

 

chaotichris....as usual, solid words of wisdom from coupe, but he's just wishing he bought the HKS RS himself...haha, eh coupe? :p :D The RS is worth every penny, it's a superb intake and adds an awesome sound to the car...I love mine and don't worry about warranty, no issues with MM since they will still service your 8 with or without RS Btw, I haven't noticed any drop in low end torque. Better yet, get the RS and an aftermarket exhaust too, the combination provides a much smoother and cooler ride given the significantly improved airflow. All the best!

 

That's probably true to some extent, but in the case of aftermarket intake, only where a problem is directly related to the intake will a dispute arise. Since the HKS RS is much better than the stock intake, I can't see MM saying "your ecu is fried, but we're not gonna replace it under warrantly since you added the RS" haha...well if they did that to me they'd have another thing comin'

The 8 is "born to mod" and benefits greatly from aftermarket components....go for it

jokes aside, seriously, anything above 1k for an intake is rather high... dats y i did not push amemiya intake and autoexe intake to the local lads.... its juz too ridiculous, although u r guaranteed faultless intakes... no idling prob, no engine dying.. their research is enormous..... and too damn well designed.... but then all those hardworks and efforts come with a huge price.......

for anything more than 1k, i wld go for a exhaust manifold... ... at least that is guaranteed a 10hp increase..... other than that, shld be a muffler.... an intake juz dun justify the high cost...

Agree with bro Coupe07 about the high cost of the intake making it a less attractive option...

But I'm looking for something cheap yet provides the "oomph" when I ram my accelerator... u guys got anything to recommend?? :P

Get whatever intake you want. If you go with the HKS RS you won't be dissapointed. Not once have I ever heard anyone complain about it. No issues with starting, no bogging, no nothing. Trust me on this one, you won't be dissapointed. Infact I have everything HKS makes for the SE3P.

I have no doubt the HKS Racing Suction is a good intake, but I think the most important point is that there are other good intakes that don't cost as much as the HKS RS. Chris, if your mind is set on getting the HKS RS and you're just asking if it's good then you've already got your answer. Give Virus a PM, he can order the HKS for you at a very good price.

However, if you are considering other intakes, then I would agree with Coupe07 that the HKS RS is a bit overpriced. You can get other good intakes for less. I'm testing the Simota Carbon Fiber Aero Form at this moment, it's a decent intake with good looks for a very good price. Well, if u ask me. Our ride has a significantly lower mod options compared to any other car. :P

But, WTH! Screw the warranty, like wad Mike said, " MOD MOD MOD! !"

 

To all kind brotas who replied: Thanks for all ur info. Well, i only thot of HKS cos I koe many did it and i can say it's kinda mkt tested mar... for the rest... i haven't heard much so did dare to consider.

Watever i do to the car, must make sure it's safe cos if anything bad happen to my car... my dad will put me in ICU.

You need a need to upgrade your audio system. Yes performance upgrades are good, body styling upgrades are cool, but audio upgrades completes your ride. You need to get a couple of amps and some big *** speakers.

In fact, get dad to come for the meet ups... :p

 

I'm gonna drag him to the meet up when i'm back from bangkok... then all of u must help me poison him BIG TIME... :D
