original filter is ok, but once u switch to open pod, u will nvr wan to put back ur original air filter.
as for when the k&n new filter is out, me not too sure... but looks good!!
look out for simota's new open pod for the rx8. sounds good and price is definitely attractive.

Tink the price for the new intake is abt S$580. Check with Mcwell, they can indent it if u'r interested. Eniwae, anyone in SG has the RB Revi? If so, how's it and price to get it over here? Not too sure if it's suitable for my 5spder.

Guys, the 1st gen intake is about S$580 from stores in SG. Might be cheaper if you can arrange your own shipping like through vPost. The 2nd gen intake is not yet released but should be available anyday now. I think showoff is some kind of car or parts dealer who got the new intake for review. I was told the MSRP "will be a bit more" than the 1st gen so maybe around S$600+?

It's OUT!!!
For those of you that have been waiting for K&N's new Typhoon Air Intake System for the RX-8, the wait is finally over. They have officially released the new intake and the MSRP is US$430 (~S$714) without shipping although you can get it for about US$330 (~S$548) without shipping from major US auto parts dealers. The only gripe I have with the new intake system (other than being a bit pricey after you add in shipping) is that it doesn't sit flush or at least closer to the air inlet and it looks like it's not aligned to the air inlet either. I noticed that from SHOWOFF's thread. I've attached the picture for your reference. I'll be looking at another alternative intake system for the RX-8 within the next week or so. Will post my findings soon, so in the words of lohsk: "keep your shorts on".
