Buying from PI or MM? Help needed

Hi guys!

New member of this forum so hope to seel help from all RX8 owners......

I deciding whether to buy a 6 speed manual from PI or Mazda...
Beside Mazda model comes with sunroof and electric seats, what other features their model comes with that PI model does not have??

1) What's the engine spec difference?
2) How abt the warranty they offer?
3) Other accessories?

Are there only TYPE E and TYPE S model in the PI market?

Hope their are some kind souls out there to help answer my queries...many thanks!

Usually the price quoted involves some cash rebate... better ask them more about it.

Probably 100% loan with 4% interest for 10yrs...which means $35560 in interest!!! Beware...

Ask around, the price shouldn't defer much if it's a genuine sales...

I doubt it is a 6MT. Even it is a 6AT, it is a damn good price. However, I don't think the PI can deliver.

Well, i beg to differ. Mayb the deal cld be bona fide but w/o CD changer / MP3, no leather seat, no freebies (reverse sensor, solar film, 3M floor mat etc)?

i book my 6At 3 wks ago n for the super basic model, i was quoted $89,800. it eventually adds up to a few more grand when i wanted the above stuff (+ pearl white as well ) (ther are ofcse dealers who quote u say, $94K but with everything mentioned thrown in) And with the COE being at its current low, my hunch is, Y not?

But the cardinal rule as mentioned by other members here will be, do a thorough interrogation on ur dealer 1st

PS: My COE is abt $12k and my ride has arrived but i've to collect it (due to installation of the a/m) Cheers

You should go for those PI who have ready stock. Ask about the OMV. Based on the current Yen, it should be around 28K to 30K. I'm very puzzled that the pearl white actually costs more. I know it is nice but I will not get it as it is hard to maintain. Every two to three days, you have to wash it or else it will soon turn yellowish...

Mine is a 4AT Sunlight silver. I bought it last Nov at $86588 and I got my car in less than 10 days My OMV is very high.

Thanks bro! Mind sharing which PI you buy from? Yes mine they told me OMV is ard 28K plus minus......They only have stock for 6 speed auto. Actually they quite surprise that I ask for 6 speed manual as they say so far i am the only one asking for manual and they need to indent from Japan.

Actually I am comtemplating on the colours to go for.....Sunlight Silver is those normal silver colour??

I collected my 6AT about three weeks ago, also from a PI at Turf City. Just a couple of comments:

-The type of financing you go for usually affects the final price. Most PIs require that you take up at least 60-70% loan, or you will need to top up $1-3K (I was told $3K if no financing is required). If you want upfront cash rebate, the interest rate is significantly higher (not worth the while in my opinion).

-Be prepared for delays in delivery time. I booked my 6AT in Nov 2006, and was promised delivery by Dec. I eventually collected the car only on 30 Jan 2007.

BTW my OMV turned out to be only $26.6K, even though it was estimated at $29k range when I placed my order.

I would rather go for ready stock. many many cases of waiting in agony over 3 mth period. A close friend of mine had trouble with LECO over his evo9MR. if you calculate the difference between the basic cost of the car and selling price, its more than 20k for his case and then still they wanted to play punk.

i mean you tell them you want to pay CASH for the car. then that will be the 'official' price without any rebates at all. since you took a loan, there is still some form of kick back they get from the bank for sure. Cash price is the most transparent and best to buy ready stock.

Hi,

PI is Sino Motor. I think they do not have stock now. However, their price is reasonable. Sunlight silver is different from the normal silver. It is of deeper shade and it is much nicer. I wanted red but it is the last piece. I was attracted to the high OMV, $34244. I'm thinking of respraying it to metallic red in one year time.
I choose Auto beacuse my wife is driving too.

Go for the six speed auto as six speed manual is ex, at least 100k. Very few PI bring in manual. Check Sunday's classified ads and search for sino motor and give them a call to ask them about the pricing. I slashed $1300 from them. I have a retrachable key (smart key), 6 indash CD.

I can help you to slash the price though...

i mean, some PI salegals might be very sweet and revealing...but when it comes to specs ....they can be worse than their male counterparts...try to ask around who got more exp selling RX8....best is do your own research and go there knowing what you want ....dun be too eager to sign

Thanks again bro!

Ok i got another quote from Naga Motors Type S model at $99K. This round should be a more realistic pricing.

I intend to go for manual one, firstly, of course for the performance but most importantly, I decide to drive it for long and is worry about the auto gearbox. Not sure if its reliable enough to last long. As we are buying from PI, warranty is as good as nothing i suppose? What do you think?

How does the smart key function? (Pardon my ignorance)

No worries about Auto transmission. Just use ATF cooler will do. Warranty is usually 3 years. But there won't be much problems with the car. We have specialized workshops in Singapore to fix it.

Smart key function include, opening of doors and boot by just pressing a button on the key. and the Key is also retractable.

Hi,

I have been looking around the market as well and allow me to share. Found that MM only sells the manual version and recently prices went the opposite direction (+8k) though COE dropped. Seems that the price increase was due to supply chain issues. The PIs mostly bring in the 6AT model - does anybody knows if this is the 06 production or 07 production? Prices around 80k+- for long loans and 90k+- for short loans. OMV can range from 22k to 32k. But I am quite surprised that very few give 3 year warranty like Cars Motor Enterprise, who's giving $92880 (before cash rebate) for the AT - is this a good deal? When I checked the last time round when prices was 94880, the OMV was quoted at 32k.

would rather you get the MM car if you going to drive long term. the PI makes not much sense for a manual. only go PI if you want an auto. mine is a JDM 6MT. bought it used. but was a good deal as scrap value was high and the price was decent and mileage low. else i would have gone for a MM car too. please search the old thread for the difference between the PI and MM car. the MM car is very well spec'ed for the money. to get the same spec on the PI would surely cost you much more.

Giving the warranty is one thing, whether they r able to honour it is another... My colleague bought her car to the "authorised workshop" and they changed the oil only after 10k km and told her it is standard

So giving u 3yrs/100k km warranty might sound fine to u but wad if they close shop within the next 2 yrs? who u gonna claim from? Even so, r they able to provide the service tat ur 8 deserves?

My take is if u r prepared to buy from PI, be prepared for NO warranty/after-sales service so tat into account the forgone warranty costs in ur calculation
