Burnt Rubber Smel
Burnt Rubber Smel
Hi guys and gals,
just wondering if anyone experiences a funny burnt rubber smell coming from their A/C everytime you ram the car?
I get this everytime i run my rpm high, even for short periods (4-5 seconds acceleration) then the burnt smell comes from my A/C.
Thanks!

Not sure if I'm correct but I suspect it is the aircon compressor cutting off at high rpm.
As our centre console is running hot, the hot air just get recirculated by the blower thus giving a funny smell.
Mazda USA issued a service bulletine for faulty Aircon Amplifier because some aircon fluctuates (cool-warm-cool). But this is applicable for RX8 up to 09/11/03 production. Not sure if this is applicable for post 2004 RX8.
For me, just turn the aircon to 22 degrees celsius so that the compressor don't cut off so frequently.
