Auto from PI or Manual from MM?

Hi guys

I seriously needs your advices. Went for a test driver at MM today and i realized that i couldn't handle a Manual.
Guess i still prefers an Auto, but the sales at MM told me so much horror stories abt PI. Especially the servicing and parts issue.

Does anyone has any issue so far with their Auto RX8? Does the cooler make any difference, since MM is providing 2 coolers and PI only has one. What is the fuel consumption for an Auto?

Overall, How's the Auto RX8 performance?

Any recommendation which PI is better? and which workshop provides better service?

Sorry for asking so many questions, thanks in advance for your advices.

Hi

Whether PI or MM depends on u but if u want auto, u don't have a choice except thru a PI. So far, no major prob encountered by anyone but do check the PI is up to standard.
Personally I recommend Garage R for PI. They are very prompt in any recall work and the company has been around for some time and has excellent service department (just look at the number of performance car that goes there for service/upgrade/get together). Bear in mind they may not be the cheapest but then I still think I will buy from them if I am getting from a PI.
u can always add another cooler, even better after market one. Don't be con by the MM SE, if u probe more, most of them don't know what they are talking. They just say 2 coolers better than 1 becos PI cars has only 1. How effective is the second cooler etc and they have no idea.
For normal driving, 1 is enuf.
Anyway good time to join in as the cost has dropped quite a bit. U get the retractable key which is the envy of most bro here and u can even buy the prestige edition at $139,888 which is the price msot bro paid for their ride from MM.
Auto ones are cheaper and give June (GR) a call. Their service is very good and after mkt service, better.

Thanks, EBS and rockstar. I feel so much better getting from PI now. I just went to Hua Yang this afternoon and ya, u r right, the cost dropped quite a bit, they have quoted me $119K for the Auto. Will defintely check out GR as well.

They also showed me the retractable key which costs $200-$300, kind of ex huh...

EBS: Do you have June's no?

BTW, did you guys change to leather seats? Apparently, PI all came with fabric seats. Is it cheaper to do outside or get it from PI?

hehe..still haven't decided whether to choose Red or T.Gray... :p

Hi Babe

Off hand I do not have her number. Check Sat Classified sports car section. GR advertisement is there with their number.
Cheers

MM or PI probably seems to be the same.
If you think u cant handle Manual, then you r left with no choice, PI. Only PI carries the AT version.
1 or 2 Oil COolers, wun make much different if u r just driving on Singapore road, unless you going to track. ANyway, AT also can fix another cooler, a better one, HKS, probably cost u around 1.5K (Guess GR can get it done for u, they the HKS agents)
Leather or Fabric? if u were to ask me, Fabric is good, can opt for Recaro seats next time ...my 2 cents.

If you are interested in getting from garageR check out their website at
http://www.garager.com.sg

I have talked to june before and she is really a pleasure to work with and I would strongly recommend her. So do give her a call.

Like the rest have said, if you really need to have an auto, then yeah, you will have to go with PI's . To me the biggest disadvantage of working with the PI is the fact that you only get a 1 year warranty as opposed to 3 year from MM. But other than that, I think the cars are about the same. And yes, MM service really isnt that great.

Hmm... FC, I am currently doing around 400-410km. Top up is about $65-$70+ after 10% discount. My is Manual, so I guess AT may consume a little more .. anyone AT would like to comments. :p

Nope, I guess the tank for both AT and MT are the same. It is always the fact that AT car consume a little more petrol than manual. I read it somewhere in other forums.
That's why I need an AT 8 to confirm this. I could be wrong and the FC for both AT & MT could be the same too ... :p

thats with red lining a few times of course.
dont forget that it is a rotary engine so thats the trade off for a car with low displacement but high power.
just remember when you get the car dont hold out too much if not you wont really enjoy the car.

Hi babe! number 1) u have to seriously consider is do u want a manual or auto?if u can handle a manual,u still got a choice but if u would prefer auto, then its PI u hv to choose.U dont really hv to worry so much regarding servicing issues.....if i am a saleperson at mm, definitely i would tell u the horror stories so u would buy from me....and yes i do agree with some bros here that a lot of time, they dont even know wat they are toking abt.......Garage R specializes in tuning performance make so servicing and parts are not an issue....in fact one of the owners at GR attended HKS workshop for the 8.....Anyway i think many of the mechanics at MM may not be able to handle the 8 as well so u might end up going elsewhere for ur servicing and parts......anyway they would charge more than outside......

number 2) dont worry abt the cooler as i do not hv any problems with mine.....in fact like wat many bros here hv said....if u arent going track there is no worry.....and if u worry there is always after mkt like HKS.....even better than original....the RX8 regardless of auto or manual is not like the WRX or EVO....Its not a car meant so much for fast pickup....in fact most Rear Wheels drives pick up slower.....but its a class of its own....its a beauty to appreciate and admire.....of cos the auto has less power and less punch...but if u want great performance and auto....u can look at PI WRXs or EVOs Auto.......

I would reccomend GR too.....becos they know their stuffs.....i remember going to a PI and i enquire abt the CD Changer and rear windscreen when i bought the 8.....one of them told me,they can throw in the changer for me but the changer is using radio frequency....GR very st forward tell me its in-built.....rear glass is very impt....GR got theirs originally from Mazda...and its not some cheapo glass from china.....BTW i got mine from June....i do agree that its a bit more ex than others but at least they know their stuffs......

Leather seats?well mine is still fabric as actually there is no hurry to change....just use it first until the fabric wears then change.....why spend that money now unless u plan to loan it in...else i would say no hurry......

regarding FC?well dont think too much......when it comes to cars like the 8,WRXs,EVOs,fairlady or Silvia.....they are all the same.....they all drinks.....imagine reving a ferrari or porsche.....even worst......

anyway i went down to GR today think they got a black one there....not sure auto or manual but it comes with the retractable keys....if i am not wrong......

anyway just my 2 cents worth.......good luck and hope u buy ur ride soon...welcome to the family

Thanks rclios...

i have checked out GR and talked to June as well...Very nice gal to talk to... yup... they left only black Auto with 2 retractable keys now... I am actually looking at Red or T.Gray...so most likely will wait until next month when the car arrives in singapore...

Heard from June that there are some limited Sports edition for both Auto and Manual coming in to Singapore after Christmas priced at $139K....you guys might be interested to drop by and take a look...
