Any Oldbies changed battery ?

Anyone approaching 2 years old replaced the battery yet? I am afraid mine will die on me anytime soon.

Any recommendations for the largest capacity premium MF battery that fits the space?

Why would you be concerned about yer battery dying after only two years? Would it not be good for at least a five year life?

2 years is already pretty decent for a battery that size.

No battery lasts 5 years.

Miata's battery last for 7 years!

But most modern car nowadays consump a lot of battery. To mcuh electronics. I've heard BMW's 7 series' battery some last less than a year...

I find it bizarre that a maintenance free car battery won't last two years...even if the battery is sealed, a severe drop in electrolyte levels causing a dead battery is symptomatic of other issues. A "healthy" engine should not drain the battery too quickly to the point it needs to be replaced, certainly not within two years (unless of course there's significant km's done). In my experience, I've had cars with maintenance free batteries that lasted at least five years.

There are Optima batteries that fit our car. Can't remember which model tho, but you can do a search. Think Blackaero is using an Optima battery.

It's OK Genesis. All things being fine and if battery is sited in the boot as in BMWs it could last for years. But I believe well before it's truly dead it would be past prime and worth changing. Give yourself and your baby a refreshed and confident feeling for just a little money. Ditto tyres.

Thanks lohsk for the link to Optima. It seems to be similar to Exide TorqueStarter of the early eighties. Bad experience. I am reluctant to try.

Any experience with Varta at Autobacs?

My uncle BMW 520 had an explosion. Guess where did this BOOM comes from.

THE BATTERY.

maintenance free batteries r good cos they are totally sealed and need not top up the battery water.

But they are also more explosion compare to those normal ones

NB,

I have decided to hang on. Just did 2yr/24,000km svc @GR. Battery seems OK. Everything fine. Feels great. The marvel of manual shift is if battery dies on me just need to push start. Get myself to Autobacs and select the biggest Varta that fits. That's my plan. Or suka suka if I pass by Autobacs just change lah.

Did you mean you changed battery once already? What brand, model, size, capacity?

I thought with modern car electronics, it's not advisable to push start?? I carry a set of jumper cables for this reason.

Ringer,

Changed me battery sometime back at GR. Been trying to remove the silly cover to post brand, model, size and capacity. Unfortunately, have been unable to

Went GR for recall on Friday. Forgot to ask - sorry :o Got cooling plate though for the B-L-I-N-G :D

I had made a trip to Autobacs on saturday to check on my battery....

They have not got anything for our 8 as yet. The closest is the Varta battery (slightly smaller capacity compared to the stock 75 amp) from them and its' only on request basis. Must wait for a few days for stocks to arrive.

Anybody got lobang where to change......

Mine is on the bling when checked at autobacs .
