6MT brakes + boot lid

Got a set of 6MT front brake calipers/ rotors / pads / brake lines from 6MT. almost brand new. Good mod for AT cars who upgraded their rims to 18".

Also original winning blue boot lid.

Both item was on my car and driven for less then 30 mins.

PM if interested (cos i also dunno how much these are worth)

changing to the original winning blue boot lid will add at least 30 hp to the car!!............hehe...ok, j/k :p

If your car is an AT then the upgrade to 6MT calipers/rotors would certainly be an excellent mod.

the ATs has smaller calipers as well as rotors...thus being safety first...brakes are just as impt as going fast.

i am pretty sure that you need 18" rims to clear the 6MT rotors....can anyone double confirm this.

Me thinks u right - heard someone say this before. Actually not surprising since the 6MT's rotor is visually larger than the auto's.

Auto 8s come with 302.5mm brake rotors, so upgrading them to the 320mm brake rotors is definitely a good mod to get. Of course you gotta make sure there is enough clearance from your rims for the bigger brake rotor/caliper.

Its actually called the boot spoiler. It comes standard with any 8 that you buy from the authorised agent.

Yes and its DEFINITELY true that the rotors are in fact bigger cause i did the conversion and had the rotors placed on top of another to compare.

sgrenesis, do you know if the stock 16" rims is big enough for bigger brake rotor & caliper? Or definitely must change to bigger rims first?

Problem is not many aftermarket slotted rotors are available for the auto 8. I only know of DBAs. If any auto 8 owners want it, I can try to arrange something.

to get after market, u wld need to change to the 6mt calipers first... cos most after market brake rotors are made for the 6MT bigger calipers.

DBA is the only brake rotor manufacturer I know of that makes 302mm brake rotors specifically for the auto RX-8. Don't need to change to the 6MT brake calipers. It's direct swap for your 4AT brake rotor and fits the 4AT brake calipers. If anyone is interested, let me know.

SQFlyer: Alright !! .... al least I am not worried when my rotors warp or need to be change, then I can look for the DBA rotors ...

But I thought our Auto is the standard size for rotors whereas the 6MT is the upgraded size. Therefore the standard size should have more after market sizes

the standard one is the 6MT one..... most of the aftermarket manufacturers made their products based on the 6MT model....

Drifter: Take care of your brake rotors and it should last you quite some time. Another alternative to changing the brake rotors is to buy over the 6MT brake rotors and calipers from those 6MT owners who have gone for aftermarket big brake kits. It'll definitely give you better braking and thereafter you are free to use any of the aftermarket 6MT brake rotors.

The DBA brake rotors for the auto 8s is available in both slotted and cross-drilled. Note that the cross-drilled brake rotors are not recommended for track. Only looks nice but for street use only.
