I wouldn't consider the gas gauge in this car as being completely linear. I don't believe the quarter tank marks are actually a quarter of the tank. Just MO.

You are right because I usually get 60 miles or so out of the next quarter, and then around 80 miles or so out of the 3rd quarter and the last quarter goes like there is a hole in the bottom of the tank.

on good days i could get 160+ to 170km on the quarter mark. That would imply that 1/4 mark is closer to 20l. Half tank mark always works out to be half tank. Normally get up to 270km(you see the gauge move the fastest in the 1/4 to half tank). 1/2 to 3/4 takes a long time too. Normally can travel another 150-170km or so. Last 1/4 goes flat rather fast. So...in my opinion...1/4 mark is abt 20l, 1/2 tank around 30, 3/4 mark abt 50. Totally flat(needle totally flat below the lowest mark) is about 57-58. Had confirmed with the amount of gas pumped in. Seems rather accurate.

The spec from the car manual is 61L. If you filled up the tank and run the car until fuel needle point to E, it is around 55L.

There is a simplest way to check the actual tank capacity, believed should be accurate as well.
Run yr ride until fuel needle pointed to E (as close as possible). Fill up the tank by yourself until really full. Check yr receipt fr gas station, this will indicate the tank capacity from FULL to E. (mine is about 55L)
Use 61L minus that number, this will be the capacity fr E until totally ZERO. (mine is about 6L)
Similarly you could do it with 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 tank mark.

I recommend the "Full Tank" method, the most accurate layman method possible:

1 Start with a full tank. Try to use the same pump at the same station, auto cutoff, ask the attendant not to squeeze in another drop. Get detail receipt.

2 Reset trip meter.

3 At next refill do #1.

4 Take the trip meter reading and then reset trip meter.

5 The trip meter reading is the number of kms covered by the number litres you just put in. KMs divide by Ltr = KMs per Ltr

6 Repeat at every refill.

You will get a pretty accurate figure for each refill. Pretty accurate long term as well if you either average the results or use trip meter b or odometer for a todate result.

Marvel of this method is you don't have to worry about 1/4 1/2/ 3/4 tank whatever. Fill up anytime and calculate the km/ltr for the kms covered by this refill.

I get approx 6.5km/ltr for fairly aggressive city driving. 7+ km/ltr fairly gentle with some expressway. My daughter always beat me - she gets 7.5 km/ltr at least.

Vanquish, if you can actually use 60L before refueling, I take my hat off to you man... ha hah. You must be carrying a can of petrol in your trunk. To calculate your FC, you gotta divide your mileage by the actual amount you fill in and not by the capacity of the fuel tank, I'm sure you know that, right?

Yea...works out to be around 8.5km/l most of the time on Caltex 95. Shell somehow gives me erratic figures ranging from 8-8.5. Think caltex is very reliable. Once even reached 8.9km/h.

Fantastic fuel consumption is because i make effort to. If i see a car breaking or anticipate a red light, i ease off the throttle and brake gently. Seldom do abrupt braking. I heard a lot of ppl talking about shifting in 3k/4k etc but i find that it does not affects my comsumption much. I tried shifting at 2k,3k and whenever i like but found the difference slight. But if i always brake hard(i.e. maintain speed almost to the desired stopping point then brake hard) I'll have real bad consumption of 7.5-7.9km/l.

When I first started driving this car, i sometimes failed to reach 7km/l. It sort of improved after 7-8k. Dunno why also....

I can get 100 km on the first quarter or I can get 60km on the first quarter. I depends on the average position of the right pedal.
My best mileage was 11.3 l/100 km and worst was 13.9 l/100 km
