Tyre questions

It's generally believed that we are going to end up with RE040's (rather than the Bridgestone Potenza S03's that I'd heard.)

What did the cars you guys have test driven have on (did anyone look?)

What's the best price for a decent tyre that people have found (has anyone looked yet?)

I currently pay just short of £100 for 225/45 R17 's so expect the tyres for the RX-8 will be about that price, probably slightly more - any ideas?

Andy,

I changed last month from RE040's to 4 new Goodyear F1 GSD3's (225x45 R17s).

Cost me £452 all in fitted and balanced. There is a noticable and significant improvement in these tyres on my Impreza over the Bridgestones.

I would expect the RX8 Tyres to be dearer though, as they are 225x45 R18s I think from memory. Expect £150+ for premium brands.

You can buy cheaper on the net ( www.mytyres.co.uk for example), but you have to get them fitted yourself.

Cheers
Mark

Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's on my TT - 18's. Managed to find a backstreet place that do them for £125.

I just had a quick look, and can get Continental Sport (M3 standard fit) for £133.95 a corner, Pirelli PZero for £148.36, and Bridgestone S-03 for £141.

Funnily no RE-040 in that size was listed? (but they may be just out of stock and have to order it in especially?)

Alternatively, if I went for a slightly lower profile to 225/40-18, I can get Toyo Proxes for £101, Goodyear F1 GSD3s for £109, Continental Sports for £128 or Bridgestone RE-040 for £124 a corner.

found the michelin pilot sports every one has been raving about for £202 a corner fitted and balanced.

Hopefully my mate with his Focus RS will be needing tyres first, he's in the trade so I would expect him to find a good price.

(incidently he picks up his 53 reg RS tomorrow, after taking the luxury of leaving it in the garage for a couple of weeks, hows that for self control?)

Here's hoping that my info was correct then.
