Too much attention?!
OK, I've had my days for 2 days now and seem to be getting too much attention:
Day 1:
* Bloke in petrol station spending 10 mins plus drooling over it whilst being totally oblivious to his children
* Emails from people at work desparate to see it
* Had to take 15 mins out to show a work colleague what it looked, sounded, drove like .. He even insisted on me popping the lid to look at the engine
* Stopped by Microsoft security guard who wanted to know what it was like and what I thought of it (PS he said he'd never seen one)
* Had a crowd of 15 kids come up to it as I stopped off outside the off license on the way home from work
Day 2:
(N.B. I was only out for three very short local trips today)
* Popped to get some money from local cashpoint; as I was leaving a nice looking blonde in a BMW gives me the thumbs up and a smile (this could get dangerous!)
* Went to halfords to get some wax and a guy in an M series also gives me the thumbs up
* Popped into my local shop and came out to find two kids kneeling on the pavement bowing to the almighty machine. This of course followed by: "Is this your car mate?", "saw it on top gear", "show us the rear doors", "how fast does it go", "£25,000, that's not very much (great coming from a 12-year old)". Did a drop clutch start for them and saw them drop once again to their knees in the rear view mirror. hehe
So beware: if you haven't got your car yet you need to understand that you'll need to be prepared to talk to/signal to people on a daily basis.
:D
P.S. I'm sure this only happens to those of us in the red with strafes on the side.

I have the same "problems"...
I have complete strangers talking to me about it.
My boss had the too much cash comment.
The leader of the office bmw brigade said it is far better than his shiny new 330i.
I had a woman follow me all the way to work, just to tell me how nice it was... She was driving an ML 320...
I had a crowd of clubbers standing around in awe when I was parked outside the local nightclub...
I think my car has been the cause of several cases of whiplash.
Oh, and I have come out tops in the 330i vs RX-8 hooning stakes.
All in all a fantastic machine, and I haven't a moments regret about buying it. I was a little sad letting the S3 go, but hell, it has been forgotten now.

I filled the car up in the petrol station last night and had:
"What sort of car is that mate? It's a very nice car, almost beautiful, it looks really nice!"
This was followed by a 10 minute conversation about the car with a complete stranger.
Whilst i was parked outside my mate's house on Saturday lunchtime a man walked past the car staring at it, and nearly walked into the lamp post. He then took about two minutes and had a really good look around the car. He kept nodding his head and smiling!!!
Is this what everyone is getting? I have had new cars before, but never had this sort of reaction!

Well so far it's been every day for me:
Today I got:
"Parked next to your car on Friday; it's really cool/nice etc etc" (Nice looking blonde in the office)
Work colleague insisted on coming to see it when we left the office tonight. Left him standing in the car park watching as I drove off obviously enjoying the sound.
At least two "star car" incidents a day so far.

Only two incidents today:
Top of the range scooby driver insisted on me taking him out for a spin at lunchtime ... He went on constantly about the quality, the style etc etc ... basically he seemed to just wish his scooby had the style and the smoothness...
Went down a local dual carriageway and he kept saying "Go on break the hundred .. you know you want to"; let's just say I kept below it as I was running in the beast.
He then insisted that we go in the scooby ... It was brutally quick and could easily whip the RX8's ****. Then it happened .... after he had hit 120mph plus he noticed this van on the side of the road.
Suffice it to say ... he's wondering if he's lost his licence and I'm glad I didn't listen to him about the 100mph.
Phew!!
The other incident was much more pleasant ... got stopped in my company car park by a total stranger as I was leaving tonight ....
"What do you think of it?" ... "god that looks sexy" ... "Go on, fire her up" .... " let me see the rear doors then" ... "didn't get any attention when I got my new 3 series" etc etc Basically good feel factor stuff, but had to try and explain to the Mrs yet again why my car makes me late home from work
**** this is good!

- Bloke at the petrol station, offered to swap with his Merc convertible
- Couple in multi-storey car park admiring car, her to him: "better not go to close it's probably alarmed"
- One schoolboy to another: "That's my dad" (I'm not)
- Various small boys and petrol station staff: "Nice car mate"
- Some bloke in France: "Belle voiture, monsieur"
- Some women admired it too, though the best comment was "you don't need a sports car"

My favourite comment to date...
Came out of B&Q to find a family walking round it having a look. A little girl who I estimate as being about 4 years old: "Daddy, can we get one of those?"
