sunroof

am i the only (mug) to have ordered a sunroof?
to me there's nothing better than pushing on through the lanes on a cool summer evening with the roof open.

I know it reduces headroom and i am just on 6ft but I am assured by my dealer it wouldn't be a problem (mug again)

I prefer fresh air to conditioned air anyday and a drop of natural light can't be bad can it!

If you're long in the leg and shorter in the body, don't stress. I'm 5' 10", but my body length was the same as a 6'8" basketballer, very short legs on me

(bicycle fit kt comparison)

Reason for this babble, I scrape the roof of most cars, yet fit in the RX8 quite comfortably, so - unless you're a freak - I don't think you have a thing to worry about.

Another thing, sitting in the RX8 in a showroom feels quite close - out on the road, you just feel hugged by a friend.

But I'm sorry, you will have to lose the cowboy hat :D

You are not alone in the fact that you have chosen the sunroof, I as I am sure many others have too!

I have not doubted the decision once over the last 11 months (since ordering), however I have the colour and my decision not to have sat. nav.

My '8 is going to be black so figured it will need the extra light.

I wouldn't have considered the a/c if it had been optional.

I use the sunroof a fair bit on my 106 and that's manual!

Btw what's this 'moonroof' thing all about? Is it a yankism?
or got links to the x-men movie; wolverine - werewolf...???

I'm looking forward to operating the horizontal opening, ceiling, optical aperture.

I did originally order a sun(moon)roof. However various US threads suggested headroom troubles and then my dealer also confirmed that they were advised not to sell moonroofs to anybody over 6ft. To avoid any problems I cancelled the moonroof although that has delayed the car for a couple of months.

I have ordered the sunroof, Use the one on the MX-6 whenever I can, like to feel the warmth of the sun on my expanding bald spot.

It's called a moonroof when it's made of glass, a sunroof when its made of sheet metal.

gotta have a sunroof. it's not open top motoring but a big one helps oo-er.

in fact when i bought my current car i went down the magazine stats to find a manufacturer that offered sunroofs with aircon. not many did and still many dont offer both.

I've had sunroofs in my last 6 cars. This is the first new car I've actually had to pay for myself and realised I hardly ever used it.

One quick thought: does the sunroof add to the car's rigitidy or make it worse?

Ive not had one in my previous two cars, after always having one and I dont miss it at all.

IMHO the sunroof, particularly when open, spoils the roofline of the RX-8.

On the other hand, I wish Id ordered the nav.

Sunroof - what sunroof

I've ordered a sunroof - extra light, fresh air, - you can't beat it.

I had a test drive the other week with an 8 with a sunroof - I'm 6ft - and believe me its noooo problemo.

i've been making the most of the sunroof in my '6 during this recent good weather (bit of a shock to my system seeing the sun up here) but as my head touches the roof in the '6 I felt it was not worth the compromise, that and i only usually have the sunroof part of the way back to stop the sun shining down the back of my sunglasses, so a glass roof seemed a daft idea.

Imagine waiting seven months for a car and then not fitting in it!!!

(also I used to get my head cooked in my old old metro with it's glass roof - part car, part greenhouse, all beige.)

well just to add to the previous stuff.

Every car ive had has had a sunroof, whether or not said roof is used is not in question. The light that a sunroof provides in the cabin makes up for not having it open.

My T4 had a sunroof, my IS200 had a sunroof and both had/have climate control.

rx8 now has sunroof and SAT NAV.

Sunroof

Ordered one too.

Had a TT and it was pretty dark inside. I know the RX8 has more glass but the sunroof will let more light in (and let people see who is driving!!!!) and it is nice during the day to have fresh air rather than air con.

Also should let you hear the rotary engine spinning away!!!

I don't think the glass areas are very different between TT and RX8 in the areas that count.

To me, the RX8 has a bit of a bat mobile feeling, where ther TT was more thunderbirds.

I suppose that'd put the WRX into Fireball XL5 territory :D
