Sat. nav. or not?

My concern at the moment is over wether to go for the sat. nav. or not, it will obviously be useful to have and help on re-sale but I feel it messes up the dashboard even when closed.

Does anyone have any views on this?

Useful if actually needed. I don't therefore will save the costs. Also, need to order with leather option in the UK.

I don't think I could justify the cost.

It would be a nice toy though and looks impressive.

It will probably be based on a small computer as the data is stored on DVD, I wonder how long it will be before somone comes up with a mod that will allow your passengers to watch movies on it.

Probably need to pay for DVD updates each year as well.

Not sure about helping second hand values though, extras just make a car more desireable on the second hand market, they rarely have that much of an impact on the price.

Sat nav £1500
Decent map £5

I'll take the £1495 saving thanks.

I know it's not quite the same thing, and I'm sure for people who do a lot of travelling to unfamiliar places it would be useful. But £1500 is a complete ripoff. I'd consider it for £500 though :p

Does anyone think that the sat. nav. will spoil the look of the dash when closed from the perspective of driver and passengers?

All the pictures I've seen show that the only difference in the dash between the Nav closed and no Nav, is that you have the two buttons on either side of the digital display.

Oh for reports I have read I assumed it read normal DVD's. Most of the Sat Nav systems in Japan I have seen are either DVD screens or Tv's.

This one probably isn't different.

and like someone else just pointed out it's not just 1500.(sorry can't make a pound symbol:o ) it's 1500 + leather since they make you buy both to get the nav.

Sat Nav... a must.

I have a toyota with a sat nav...apart from the pose factor, its gotten me home from those late late night parties.....

Also keeps those TT driver eyes glued to your RX8 longer...

I'd like it, but cant justify the £1500 for a toy that I wouldnt use very much. Most of the time I know where Im going.

A cheaper alternative is www.streetmap.co.uk which works for me!

I'd rather keep the £1500 and put it towards the plasma screen I want to buy in the next 18 months.

Cheers
Mark
