Cool RX-8 seen in the UK (Long post)

maybe I have been slow, or not been in this forum lately, but went to an mx-5 owners club meeting on sunday down at Lulworth castle. Reason being was that my dealer told me there was gonna be an RX-8 there. he was not wrong :D I have taken a few pictures but I need to finish off the roll of film before i can develope and scan it. First hand impression was that this car looks absolutely amazing in metallic blue. Sat in the drivers seat and, even tho the seats were cloth, it was comfortable and highly supportive. Infact sat in the driver's seat twice (had to sit in it again ) The "bump" in the footwell does not intrude that much into the footwell area. I found it comfortable to rest my left leg on that "bump" with my foot on the foot rest next to the clutch. Ok, so the model i saw was a japanese 192ps version, but it sat on 18inch wheels, and according to the sales guy, the UK cars will sit about 15mm lower. i didnt think the car would need any further lowering! This was due to the fact that the car originally came with 16 inch alloys, but these 18's were slapped on to show the uk public how it will look when they buy one. I was very dissapointed when I asked the sales guy to turn over the engine, as he declined, no matter how much i persisted. But he did open the bonnet and boot and removed the cowling for the engine bay. Very nice view, I just hope my photos come out ok. Was also very suprised at the amount of leg/headroom at the back. it was a very roomy, if slightly claustrophobic feel to it. Also saw a guy with an effini rx-7, who said he already put his money down, whether it was one of you guys or not, was a nice drive down towards the poole/sandbank area (we were the ones in the mini cooper) . Sorry for the long post but I couldn't contain my excitement! LoL!

This car has been doing the rounds over the last few weeks.

See here for a long discussion on it https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...5&pagenumber=1

sKy....

Anybody who has seen the car has the forums authority and, in fact, encouragement to write as much as possible. Most of us still have not seen the car and in almost all cases information from those who have has been very positive. Whilst we wait with bated breath for Mazda to sort out their delivery dated any positive news is very welcome.

rael.

hey mark, i apologise if i have gone over old ground. PA woman said this was the third time the rx8 had been shown to the general public in the uk, so, I thought i would post what i saw here. If you look at the time I posted, you will notice that it was rather late that night, but its still no excuse :D Just shows you the hours I work (2pm till midnight)

Thanks for the message rael, even tho i should of checked before I posted. havent been online in a long time, since i started working these hours, was too lazy to skim through that night :p

Sky,

No worries I was just pointing out a much longer thread with lots of opinions which you may not have seen and would find interseting.

As Rael says, all opinions are welcome.

Sure its the 3rd time.

1st was Brands hatch. Which they didnt announce to anyone so everyone missed the car (unless they were going anyhow).

2nd was at Motordrivelive, 200+miles away from me.

3rd was motorexpo 200+ miles away from me.

4th was the mx-5owners clum meeting. hardly public, I couldnt even find out where that was...(and I did try).

5th is Goodwood I think. 250+miles away from me.

Theres the press launch in N.wales but I aint a member of the press. maybee I can blag that I'm Jeremy Clarkson or something....let me find my blue jeans...

EDIT :- oh and your 1st post wasnt long at all. We always want new/more info , never know when mazda will let something slip to someone Just try paragraphs next time.

I saw the rx8 at the mx-5 owners club. Imagine the embarressment turning up at lulworth cove in my mates "new" mini cooper, surrounded by around 300 mx-5's and more still pouring in. Paragraphs, what are they? lol.

Still waiting to finish off that roll of film. Was hard to get good pics of the car, when so many people were around it. Managed about 8 or so. Will upload as soon as I finish the roll and develop them (dont hold out, the day was really sunny and alot of glare )

Mark, am checkinng out that other thread. It is rather long.
