Question RX-8 Owners in Copenhagen?

I've been here for a week and haven't seen any 8's.... anyone out there? If so, let me know... I'm here for a couple more days.

Have you tried the sauna yet? While somebody slaps your back with a leafy branch?

I never could figure that out, unless it's for improved circulation or something...

How's the food?

I miss home terribly at times, but I seldom see any '8s when I'm there.
Considering it is a $70k in Denmark, its not surprising.

if i'm lucky i'll get to visit Denmark in a couple years. After Honduras, if i dont go to Italy, it'll be
Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany or
Chièvres, Belgium or
Brunssum, Netherlands for the different bases i may go to... all three seem to be relatively equal distance from Copenhagen.... oh yes, that reminds me why i want to go to europe so bad... the ring...

LOL... JT, I think you're thinking of Sweden or Norway or Finland or Iceland or something... I didn't see any saunas...

Great! Let's just say I had a lot of Danish rye bread in the last week. Oh, and beer of various types -- I usually don't drink beer, or wine for that matter, and I drank EVERY day!! I tried to eat traditional Danish food most of the time. The only thing I had a hard time with is eating herring... I'm just not that much of a fish person. I DID actually eat one piece of marinated herring on a piece of rye bread so that I could say I did it... plus I had a taste of the curry sauce that the other herring was sitting in (my friend's order). I must say that I ate more healthy this time than I usually do on vacation - a lot of veggies and fruit.

And, holy cow... my friend has never owned a car. She lives on a canal, very close to downtown CPH, over close to the new opera house. Public transportation ROCKS there! We walked our asses off several days, plus we took the bus, the metro and the trains. I took a ton of pics. A lot of history there ... every time you turn around, there is another castle

The only downside to my trip was the US dollar value

Didn't know you were a Dane MM - cool. Interesting mix of cars over there.

Swear to God! I saw in on a PBS travellogue. Burt Wolfe or somthing like that. It was Denmark, outside Copenhagen. People would sauna, beat each other's backs with branches, then jump in the conveniently placed lake right next to it.

At the next meal, ask for "rødgrød med fløde".
Even if you say it wrong, they will know what you are asking for because no one can say it right!
And its delicious, too!

How do you think Danes stay so fit?

Red pudding with cream..... yum... what kind of berries? Red currants and raspberries, or some other berry combination? (I couldn't open your link - probably because I'm back in the US?) The day I ate herring, we had aeplekage (I think that's how it's spelled, but with the "ae" character) - I think it was supposed to be like an apple cake, but it was in a tall glass with sliced apple and whipped cream.

Yeah, a WAY better diet than we usually seem to eat, PLUS all the bicycling!! I hardly ever saw a person who was overweight. I was impressed with how people fly around in traffic on their bikes - most with no helmets and wearing flip-flops.

Oh yeah... that was amazing. Very pretty women. In the rain tho? Thankfully it was sunny and very warm for the last week. I guess it rains there just as much as here in Seattle.

Probably more, but the climate has been getting drier and a bit warmer over the years.
It rains pretty much all the time from October until April.

^ Nope Al, but I just looked up the recipe - they sound great. Do you make them very often? There were many recipes out there. Sounded like some people make them during the holidays. The name means "apple slice", but not all the recipes say to use apples.

Samples, we need samples!

We don't put in fruit fillings. We mainly eat them like pancakes. We coat them with sugars (refined, powdered or brown) & maple syrup.

That's because Danish sounds like gibberish to begin with We always say it's like a drunk version of Norwegian. But we love our Danish neighbors (they have cheap beer).

Jethro Tull: And sauna is mostly Finland and a bit Sweden. Don't mix us Norwegians and Danes into naked backsmacking antics

As an answer to the initial question in this thread.
I am the happy owner of a RX-8 in Copenhagen. Supposedly the only one in the Winning-Blue color in Denmark. Love every minute in it. :-)

Welcome! I wish you had been around when I was in Copenhagen. How long have you had your 8? How many do you see in your area?
