RIP Europe

Not sure there is much life left in this site, feels like its slowly dying on its feet. Presumably everyone has moved over to the RX8 Owners site.

It seems like another case of the UK wanting to keep the rest of Europe at arms length. We had a perfectly good, active forum what was the point of setting up another in opposition?

Hi all,

I registered first here, and this forum is responsable for me buying a RX8. So I stay here. That doesn't mean that I'm not registered on the UK-based RX8 owners forum as wel as on the German RX8 forum. You never know enough, and contacts allover the world are rich contacts. SO ...

Your Joking arnt you? Or havnt you been there?

On 1 section of the forum I can see a dozen threads that have had (multiple) posts today alone. We have over 100 paid up members too.

More posts than the UK mazdarotaryclum + this european section + the 350z UK oners club together. And its only been up and running a month.

Not taking anything away from this excelent site - I will always look/post here too. But for me UK issues, chat and meetings with other UK owner/enthusiasts will take place elsewhere.

Check my post history on here and on the other forum - no way are either replacements for each other or incompetition All IMO of course.

Well okay, maybe a couple dozen, but in terms of shear volume, it's still working its way up there. It's not like this forum no longer has value to you guys. If I hit a nerve with you, I apologize... Yes, I do frequent there, I signed up as #143, the UK board has almost doubled its membership since then.

I must say, I'm not quite sure why a separate UK forum was thought to be necessary (except perhaps as a plug for the owner's club). Because it is mainly in English, this section was almost a de facto UK forum anyway. And it is good to have the international perspective from the other sections, especially the US which is where half of the world's RX-8's live.

Now we have to monitor two boards and many threads are duplicated.

I keep a tab on both and the Uk owners site is a lot more active than this European site. Not suggesting it is any better but many of those who used to post here and have now received their cars and moved to the owners site which therefore has a lot more hand-on information about ownership.

I've been on this site for over a year now and feel that it provides a lot of interesting information and I still read it but.............

The RX8 Owners Club was set up as a natural progression from an Internet based forum to fully fledged Owners Club with meetings and events, Members Benefits and discounts and paid up Membership as with any other car club.

Please don't confuse the two, the Owners Club is what it says with its own discussion forum. They are two completely different animals. The Owners Club is for Owners who want the benefits of being a Member of a car Club.

And yes, although we have around 240 forum Members we have over 100 paid up Club Members, they are not the same thing as, Membership to the Forum does not constitute Membership to the Club unless the annual membership is paid.

We are also in contact with Mazda Uk and its Dealer network and welcome their contribution to our forum.

Hope this clarifies to those that don't see the need for two forums.

Cheers
Oilman

Send your details to me and I will have a look.

It would be useful to know your Owners Club login, your operating system and browser. PS. Have you cookies enabled?

News to me - and I'm forum admin and Owners Club Chairman!

Lets be honest, this was and is the starter for the Europe RX8 forums. The Owners Club forum is the natural progression in support of the owners club.

They aren't in a war, its all up to you.

Personally I'm a bit biased.

Just to put the record straight, the forum has been going since mid-October. Since then its currently got 249 registered users and there have been 8365 articles. - Slightly more than 10 per day wouldn't you say!

Hi Rob,

Wouldn't normally respond to a post like this but l am staggered by the comments about the Mazdarotaryclub / Mazda RX-8 Club !!! please see here for our review. if your comments are correct though good for you.

Unfortunatly Generaly looking at this thread l feel that you all be very careful not to burn your bridges as this excellent site after all spawned your new club and it would be very unfair to leave this site in taters !

Clive, I'm not burning any bridges. If you check I still regulaly post here and on the mazdarotaryclub website.

But for UK owners of RX-8's the www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum is the happening place. Of course it doesnt have as many posts in total as the other sites, but does get more posts/day at the moment.

Theres only a handfull of rx-8 owners on MRC forums, and I post there whenever I have something to add - but theres very little activity in that section.

I dont know how you managed to be "staggered" by what I posted? what part? I barely commented on MRC - and what I said is nothing but the truth? Theres barely a post a day on your RX-8 area, and I must have contributed as much as anyone else to that section (now I can, had a posting problem initialy).

:confuzed:

Sorry if you thought the burning the Bridges thing was aimed you it wasn't
it was aimed at the thread !,

And unfortunately you didn't say 'our RX-8 Section '
So you have me confused now but no worry's, the Sad thing is that the RX-8 section is the largest section on our forum and the club took it's name in anticipation of the RX-8 arrival before anyone even believed the RX-8 would be built !!.

Anyway you have a good Christmas, off to Cyprus for a week now , Cheers.

All the best Clive
