Rattles

Has anyone noticed any rattles or squeaks from their new motors.

I have notice a very slight rattle from behing the driver on the right hand side. Might be the rear window but I am not sure.

I have to say I am not that bothered at the mo cos the engine drowns it out most of the time.

But it may become annoying in time.

I had a rattle on the second day during a short journey, coming from around the passenger airbag area.

Fortunately, it hasnt come back since.

Probably one of Morgan's gnome friends trying to exact retribution.

Damn gnomes....

Actually (serious head on) my car has been back for rattles.
There is a 'creak' from the Passenger A pillar.
They remove all the trim , removed the airbag and it was still there.

They now want the car back for 3 days so they can remove all the headlining etc and track it down.
One of those things - I want it fixed , because it shouldn;t be there. On the other hand I do not want someone ripping about in my car for 3 days.

I think I need to ensure it does not leave the garage at night etc... Being the first in the workshop I worry everyone will 'want a go'.

No rattles or creaks to speak of but when I press the remote to open the boot, it unlatches and then a bouncing sound can be heard (like dropping a ball bearing onto a tiled floor). Not sure it should be there but everything works.

I just started to get one from the drivers seat. I'm no phat geezer but at over 6 I'm no slouch so to speak. It does sound really bad so I'll be at the dealers soonish.

I got this same problem with my BMW at twice the price so I'm not bothered with it happenin on the 8.

800 miles on the clock and the engine sounds so sweet. :-)

I also get an 'echo' when I open the boot, but not quite as worrying as your ball bearing / tiled floor description. Probably just a design feature. Mine creaks a bit from the front centre air vents.
(I had been getting annoyed by a rattle in the door but later realised it was a CD case in the door bin.... doh!)

Jon H, just investigated the echo (its a better description than the ball bearing onto a tiled floor:D ). If you open the boot using the dashboard switch, push it in as normal and hold it there. The bbot opens as it sholud, then release the boot switch, and you get the echo. Its the boot release solenoid maybe, as I don't think on this car it would have a cable ?

I get a disturbing 'land rover' like squeaking from the rear end when you hit mid corner bumps,

rear shelf also makes a vibrating noise...

but i can't bear the thought of someone pulling things apart to fix it already.

The general feel of the 8 so far, is of a quality item. However, although the stereo can go loud, my Faithless (Retrospective) album (@ volume 18) has proved the it can loosen the door housing. There is no a constant buzz from the drivers' door, everytime there is a hint of decent bass. I'm not sure how loud the stereo goes but I don't think the speaker housing are going to be man enough.
