Has anyone noticed how every single review quotes the 0 - 60 as 6.4 secs. Do you think anyone has actually tested this with timing gear or are they all using the quoted Mazda figure.
I just find it strange because normally the cars mags do vary a few tenths of a second from the manafactureres figures and from other mags?

Nice review by the way obviously a rotar fan

"With a red line just short of 10,000 rpm (there is a warning bleep to prevent over-revving, something that wrecks rotary engines very quickly)"

Tip of the day, dont go past the rev limiter...

Not a bad review at all, seems to like it.

It's quite a good review, but I've seen it posted somewhere else on the forum.

As you guys appreciate though, it is hard to trawl through the whole forum seeing if it already exists, so keep up the good work.

You can't go past the limit. There's a fly-by -wire throttle inhibitor that prevents it. I read this on the forum recently as written by a US owner.

I thought fuel cuts off around at 9500 and the cuts in again below that (or whatever the figure is).

I was trying sarcasm out :P

Anyhow, no throttle control can stop you downshifting from 6 to 2nd....

Its the same review I posted on the 4th Aug. Looks one road test and several sites jumping on the RX8 bandwagon.

The Autoexpress comparison test last week had some different numbers, including in-gear times which Mazda don't publish so I think they did some independent testing. However, these are pre-production cars so I'm not sure if it really means anything.

ChrisW, if these are pre-production cars, do you think Mazda would be under hand and supplied 250ps cars rather than than 231ps cars ? It would'nt be the first time a car manufacturer has handed over a more powerful car, to make it look good. Disappointingly, if they have, the 0-60 time should have been better.

After all that Mazda have done (or not done), I wouldn't put it past them.
