Mazda Letter

For those of you who leave before the post, a letter has arrived this morning.

Doesnt say a lot we dont already know, but a few excerpts:

"from the end of next week your supplying dealer will be able to give you specific delivery information"

"this delivery information will arrive in dealer systems gradually as we allocate the appropriate car to the appropriate customer"

"our priorities have been to carefully match customer orders with factory production to ensure these are fulfilled as far as possible in line with order date"

Apologies etc etc

MarkW, I too recieved this letter this morning. I got onto my dealer (Brooklyn) and they state the cars are appearing on the system, including chassis numbers. He also stated that the cars on the screen (theirs or the UK, I don't know) are mainly Tit Grey, with leather ......... (that'll be mine then I hope ). He will call me later, after he has matched VIN numbers to the car to establish if mine is amongst the batch.

But again they have been kept in the dark as much as us, so I'm hoping they can give me some sunlight.

I got two letters from Mazda today. The second one was the official accessories brochure.

Two letters for me too (waste of two lots of postage!). Yes, got the pointless letter. Past caring about it. Useless Mazda UK.

The accessories catalogue was nice. Interesting to see the caps, badges (rotary in shape!) and t-shirts on sale at the back. Also interesting to see the hardback book on sale that us first 1000 got for £19.99 and a model 1:43 scale titanium only for £21.99.

Glad to hear mainly Tit Grey. Only had the waste of time letter.

Spoke to a young lady on the helpline following the letter this morning, gave her my EP number and the car is on the system. I went on to request to speak to Jeremy Thomson (Marketing Director), surprised to learn that was not possible.

I went on to explain my displeasure at the whole debarcle and she gave me an email address to vent off this displeasure. Now I know Edo has doen a similar thing, but I think more should now do this. Following this call, I then spoke to my dealer and he can also see the car and VIN on the screen.

Delivery date 16th Nov to dealer, which means I'll recieve it on the 20th. Heres hoping.

BTW, I have pre-warned the dealer that my letter to JT will be extremely harsh but truthful. I'll let you know what transpires.

Sorry forgot to say, that when Paul checked his screen this afternoon, theres loads of V/Red showing on the system. The internal tracking system used by Mazda is called "emotiv" or "emotive".

I got two letters as well. Couple of points:

1. The Mazda model car 1/43 scale is the same as the one I have from Autoart, although Amzda don't say - but it looks identical. Other colours are available but not from Mazda.

2. I note that the gift book for all preorder customers is now available for all.

3. Why is a red baseball cap more expensive than a black one?

I was surprised to find the letter re delivery waiting for me when I arrived home tonight.

I had (wrongly) expected that it would have been sent to people ordering earlier than me (I only ordered on 21st Sept) and that I would be contacted at a later date.

Am I being pesimistic in assuming that my dealer will have little or no further info. on my delivery date by "the end of next week"!?

I suppose you just never know with Mazda!

Me too! i only ordered on Sept 13th and have received the letter from Mazda today telling me that by the end of next week I should be supplied with a delivery date. mind you - the dealer said that the car should arrive in December or january at the latest.

first letter I have had since ordering though apart from confirmation of order and accessory brochure.

Will be great if I get earlier than expected!!!

Firstly: for anyone who is new to 'The Game of Mazda' then please don't take ANYTHING for granted. Even if your dealer rings you and says that your car is ready for delivery then don't believe a word of it until you've proved that it exists, matches your specification and they can find the keys! This isn't really a joke either: things are THAT bad.

Secondly: I rang my dealer and as yet my car isn't on his system. Three cars are on and show delivery as November 16th so I know it'll be after that date. He claims that each car will take 3 days to prepare and that we're talking end of November. Now considering that I'd got my hopes up for the 5th to 15th (do I NEVER learn) then this is another kick in the head.

Is it only me that has had a significant percentage of the expected joy of ordering this fine new car removed by Mazda UK? No amount of apologies or excuses will change the fact that they are a bunch of incompetent amateur con-men who don't deserve our money!

RANT OVER...

I've only just seen some of the 'official' prices in my second letter.
EEK!

How much for the front air dam skirt? 449 quid? I am usually very relaxed, but... UP YOURS MAZDA!

If the prices were realistic I would have spent four or 5 hundred quid on bits and pieces, now they may get 2 or 3 hundred at most.

That would be due to its enhanced IQ reducing capability.

No offense to anyone here, but my experiance of people wearing baseball caps behind the wheel is that they are complete f***wits, and you should stay at least 100m away at all times

Cheers

mmm, and if the first deliveries will be at dealers 16th Nov plus 3 days to PDI, I can't see how all pre-orderers can possibly get their cars in November, especially at the dealerships with many orders.

And whilst I'm depressing myself thinking about all this, it's my understanding that the dealers get their sales training on 27th and pick up their demonstrators. Does anyone know when mechanics will get any Renesis/RX-8 training or even see one for the first time to get their heads round doing a PDI on one ?

Well I have not received any letter from Mazda. I havent had any letters from them in the last 3 months - apart from the Mazda mag and an invitation to pre-order one. I am now incadescent with rage. No offence personally allygee, but you ordered in September and got a letter, but I ordered in March and have got **** all. The car is nearly here and I feel like cancelling. Not because of the wait, but because they cant be bothered to contact me and that just gives me a really bad feeling about post-delivery support. Hmmm, Lotus Elise looks like a nice car.

You're more than justified at being annoyed Jon but if it's any consolation at all, the delivery letter is a completely generic mail shot. There is no information specific to the delivery of any order, other than the name and address, order ref, etc.
That said, you should have received one.

Why not give the helpline a call and ask if a letter was sent to you? It might be down to the post office not delivering.

Seems a shame for you to cancel now when you've waited so long and delivery, at last, seems so close.

I think the true reason is, if you look closely at the pictures, the red one is embroidered while the black has the logo stuck on, there's a difference in trim between the two, and what you can't see from the pictures is the back - I'm assuming the red one has air outlet fins on.

That said, I agree with Dave. There is only one excuse for wearing a baseball cap while driving: no roof, and little hair on a sunny day to avoid sunburn and keep the sun out of your eyes. When I get my new car, the hat will go in the bin.

No, no, think style, man.

Thanks Murphy , but I tried that....
I read the forum every day, and so I get to know when the letters go out. On 3 seperate occasions when word got out about a letter, I called the helpline, politely saying, "excuse me, I heard that a letter has gone out but I did not appear to receive it, any chance of sending me one?" and they said "yes, certainly sir, can you just repeat your address and we'll send you one immediately". Guess what I got? **** all. Thats why I am ****ed off and I think they are just a bunch of ****s. But I dont think I will cancel, I think the car is great and I want one, even if the people who sell it are ****ers.
By the way, as a last resort I have Deby Gutteridges email and will write to her next time I dont receive a letter, but she is actually a very tasty brunette and I wont hear a bad word said about her, despite my thoughts about Mazda UK in general.
Oh and I rang my dealer, they said that cars are being loaded onto the system but at the moment they are all saying "shipped". The first ones have an eta (at port) of late 20's October, a couple of days to dealer, but the optimistic thought is that most dealers have little or no free space so they will want the things off their forecourt as quickly as possible, so may try to turn them over within a day or 2. If I get mine in October I'll buy everyone on this forum a pint.

Cheers

Likewise with the pints. What irritates me is that for all the promises from Mazda we are never going to get a delivery date anything more than about a week b4 the car is yours.

MAZDA, YOU ARE EASILY THE MOST INCOMPETENT BUNCH OF TOSSERS I HAVE EVER COME ACCROSS. YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT!

The tax on the temporary car I have had to buy runs out on the 31st of Oct, so I am (optimistically) hoping my dealer might manage to get me my car b4 for the end of the month. Oh look, a pig!

Hang on .. lets make the pint buying a bit fairer..

You can buy us all a pint if there's an "e" a "b" and an "r" in the month name between now and the and of the year....
