Had a reply from that nice Mr Twine :
"Dear Mr Dickinson
Thank you for your e-mail dated 28th August 2003.
With regard to the delivery date for your Mazda RX-8, you (and other
pre-order customers) will be receiving a letter within the next 48
hours
giving more specific delivery information. I am unsure where you got
the information
that production for UK vehicles is 3 weeks late as this is not the
case.
With regard to the situation in the USA regarding the advertised power
output of the Mazda RX-8, this situation does not apply in the UK as
the
advertising and marketing of this model is vastly different from the
UK.
The top RX-8 model for the UK has been homologated at 231ps (at the
flywheel).
As you a senior members of the RX-8 Forum I am sure that this reply
will
be posted on the website in order that other members are aware of the
situation.

Thanks to Rob for e-mailing and posting and to Mr Twine for the prompt reply.

The letter seems to be implying that this homologation gives us some kind of guarantee (unlike in the US), so we should stop worrying about this issue. I'd love to be convinced that that was true.
