General Mazda Bitchin thread

Thought you'd be driving a 240ps RX8 sometime in July?

Think your gona be driving a 231ps RX8 in November?

Or a 220ps car in January?

Who knows.

Mazda was supposed to have given us the framed print AND a letter with a delivery month by the end of August. 3 days to go Mazda...

And would you believe it - a postal strike comes to their rescue!

It's the lack of information that's really annoying on my part more than the potential performance issues of the car. As long as I can drive one before I buy I'll be happy.

As far as the information issue - I'd rather Mazda kept me updated , even if it is bad news rather than leave me in the dark. I've still got to arrange (competitive) finance and the sale of my current car , both of which need a reasonable amount of notice. On top of this my car is due a service ond 4 new boots (at £100 a throw!) so I'm going to be paying more out again because of lack of info.

was just going to ask a tyre question but I thnk I'll start another thread as this is reserved for ranting!

Wont help them I guess, but its gona be a minimum of 2 weeks before theres any strike (by law I think, after the ballot).

If I drive on and I like it. And I'll be driving an MX-5 again at the same time if I think its close. if its not 'similar' to something like that (but closer to my focus) then I wont buy one.

Me too, I'd rather have facts so I can plan.

My car needs work, needs a service, damned if its getting them before I get screwed by a dealer for minimal book price.

I've sorted finance, no worries, but dont want the hassle of selling pricatly.

Just fired off a rant to Michael Davey. Copied (tried to guess) Jeremy Thomson's email, but got bounced. Interesting to see if they reply.

I am now really really F****D OFF.

Having read this thread here I just want to throw in the towel and buy a car from a manuafcturer that actually values me as a customer.

I think all of us pre-orders have been patient above and beyond that which would normally be expected. With the lack of information, the contstant devaluing of the car (power output, delay etc.) I am surprised any of are still here, let alone the number that have rigidly stuck with their orders (with a few wobbles in belief aong the way)

One thing that struck me as mildy amusing (like morgan I am going mad) was Mazda's marketing of the car as being fantastic value at £22,000. It was fantastic value when we expect deliveries starting in July, now it is beginning to look less and less so.

I bought yet another magazine this lunchtime "Car Buyer" and they proclaim the RX-8 as beating the 350Z, Crossfire and Clio V6. It may well do but at least owners of the other three have a chance of driving their cars......

Also in this magazine it indicated that there was a company offering the 147 GTA at a £3,109 discount, I am beginning to become more tempted....

Chris

(Why isn't there a smiley for F****D OFF)

The news on the STICKY is BAD

I really want to "keep the faith" as I really want this car!

I HOPE AT THE END OF THE DAY MAZDA REWARD US ALL or at least the 1st 1000 with some accessory vouchers or free servicing for the ordeal that they've put us through. LOL

I for one should have expected this based on the last 9 months but it all still grates me at the way we are being treated

I LOVE THIS CAR, WANT THIS CAR but feel that the whole process has been a TOTAL ****-UP!!

FED UP, PI$$ED OFF and not sure how much more BAD NEWS I can take.

Cheers

I'm annoyed at that news (and the once again confused, unofficial responses from Mazda UK.)

Have we got a specific email address at Mazda that we could all send an email to asking about the promised communication, expressing our dissatisfaction and querying compensation such as free accessory vouchers.

If we all hit them with a similar email at the same time they may take some notice. Perhaps we should target that PR / press guy who someone emailed a few months ago (regarding registering on the press site) as he seemed to forward that email to the right contact.

Thoughts?

Try also Micahel Davey - not that he has responded to me....

mdavey9@mazdaeurope.com

Just been told Debbie Gutteridge (sp?) is in charge at RX8 line. Left message for her to call me tomorrow.

Pointed out the farce, and the lady had nothing too confirm or add with regard to delivery months. They know no more than we do.

I have been told they have 1600 firm deposit-down-orders in the UK with thousands more lined up once the car is here for test drives. They don't need us and will not listen to us.

Sadly we either accept this situation or bail.

I think we are looking at a 2004 car, the trend would suggest this.

OK I've removed all the bitching replies to the sticky thread. I said I would and so I did

This is where we rant.

MAZDA PULL YOUR FINGER OUT.

If you said you'd contact us in August, then have the common decency to do it.
If you have nothing new to say, then say just that !!!

Silence is NOT an option.

The addage "no news is good news" is just plain b$&&^%ks

I have met Deby Gutteridge before and have her email. I won't give it out because that might not be fair at this stage, but have sent what I believe to be a very reasonable email asking the sort of questions I have gleaned from some of your comments. Watered down of course!
I will let you know if I get anything back.

I am so disappointed, I have refrained from posting over the past two days.
I test drove the car last week and it just seems a world away now again. It's a great idea JimBobJoe to have the sticky on factual information.
I don't think writing a letter to Mazda will bring us anything. We whinged before, and were told things would get sorted. Look at the facts since July....
1) We told them about the website not being updated regularly, they agree and say this will be amended
- whats happened? NOTHING
2) We have got a letter telling us we will have a limited print in August, which surely is not linked with the car delivery
- whats happened? NOTHING
3) We were told on August 12th that the boat would leave on 20th August
- whats happened? We've now learned that the latest goddam US and Jap prod run (what the f**k - we preordered too before ALL of these on the latest prod run) is 3 weeks late in finishing.
- Mazda, surely you would have known it was running late on the 12th and therefore wouldn't make the 20th.

There are more, but I really have lost the will to go on. I wont post on here any more until something changes as I really am too depressed to even bother.

Renegade,

Try not to lose the faith! Just remember what the test drive was like last week ... certainly brought a smile to my face

I know we are all getting really frustrated with the lack of communication from Mazda and that is what they should really fix. Give us more frequent updates ... even if it is bad news.

This is just like any other people management issue ... if you leave the people in the dark, the rumour mill will start and everyone will suddenly believe the very worst is happening. In reality, Mazda may have had some production problems that have delayed things; quite normal with a new product. JUST LET US KNOW SO THAT WE CAN ALL RESET OUR CLOCKS TO THE NEW DATES.

The biggest sin of all is to communicate that you are going to do something and then just not do it Mazda!! Saying you will send out brochures and accessory price lists in August (in writing to each of us may I add) and then not doing it is inexcusable. Just in case these arrive tomorrow or Saturday ... this is almost as bad ... It may be technically correct to say it's August, but just shows that you are not in control of your business right now.

One last thought: I really, really hope you (Mazda) can get back on track. I believe this car will put you back on the map and leverage huge sales of your other models. I'm on my second Mazda Xedos 6 and have been 110% happy with both. Wouldn't want to see one of my favourite car builders go to the wall through poor marketing.

Should i hold my breath?

(how long would we all be in business if we failed to achieve every customer deadline?)

Oh - Thank God I've found you lot! It has been impossible to get any information out of Mazda UK about what has been going on, but five mins on these fora and everything is becoming clearer.

Thanks you guys for all the info posted, I feel a lot better for knowing - but probably even angrier with Mazda for keeping me in the dark.

Still waiting for a Black Hi Power one!

Dont be put off by the current mood - it goes in cycles.

Sometimes we are positively cheerful !

Dont forget to add to the EP thread at the top (if you have not already done so)

I'd take;

1) Your cars arriving the last week of October

2) It's definitely 231ps

3) We are giving everyone on the forums free strakes / strafes (still not sure what they are really called!)

4) To say sorry we will give you top book on a part -ex (I know there's no chance of that one!)
