There was a brief discussion of this a while ago, but it never got anywhere.

My current insurance company (direct line) don't have the rx-8 listed yet, but for other similar types of car (Audi TT) require a tracker to be fitted. I think in the UK it would be a very good idea to do so even if your insurance didn't require it.

It looks like there are 2 basic type of tracker out there. Ones that continuously monitor your car (and possibly even know your car has been nicked before you do), and the passive ones where you have to call up to tell them it's gone.

Looking at between 300-1000 for one.

I think it was suggested that nearer the time we see if we can get some kind of group discount.

Anyone up for that ?

Possibly.

Although if it does get nicked I would rather make sure that it does NOT come back and stays gone....

Must confess that I'll be looking for one nearer the time.

If I get one it will most likely be Navtrak.

I had it in a previous car and it worked well.

AFAIK they are the only company with Automatic Driver Recognition.

Problem is it costs £999 for the first year, then £195 for subsequent years.

Don't forget that a tracker is not a deterent as it cannot be advertised on the car. But it may be the only way we can obtain insurance considering the recent 'insurance' thread which sounded a bit scary.

I think we should all consider group discounts once we know what the insurance situation will be.
