First Silver car owner - me?

Hi all.

I have my car. Its great.

renegade_si 11-05-2003 12:24 PM

and its great from this side too.

renegade_si 11-05-2003 12:26 PM

Note the funny little downlights from the wingmirrors that morgan was on about.

rael 11-05-2003 12:38 PM

Well done, looks good although it needs the rotary crest in front.

rael

renegade_si 11-05-2003 12:42 PM

I'll get the silver paint out at the weekend :)

Irish_in_a_RX8 11-05-2003 12:45 PM

Nice to see the silver in the UK at last. Is the fog light standard ?

renegade_si 11-05-2003 12:52 PM

yes sir, it is - nice banner irish!

oh and I got my 1 litre of oil in the boot! Weird yet cool - all velcroed in a zip up bag.

thats great! I got my Sunlight RX8 on July 26th. I moved from the UK to the USA just for that! j/k

Love the spoiler...the US spoilers are bigger, and I cant say I favour them. Would you be able to post a closeup of that if you ever get a chance?

renegade_si 11-05-2003 01:16 PM

Sure, will do it now....it'll be in the garage though...

renegade_si 11-05-2003 01:28 PM

lip spolier 1

renegade_si 11-05-2003 01:34 PM

That one was at an angle so you can see under it....
this ones straighter (hic!)

renegade_si 11-05-2003 01:35 PM

oops....need to do the post reply button to allow me to do images...

renegade_si 11-05-2003 01:41 PM

heres one of ma baby in her house...sleeping like a pussycat (with buckets and things all around - heheh!)

that plate sure is reflective isn't it!

Murphy 11-05-2003 01:41 PM

Nice one si, congratulations!

The silver really does show off the curves on this car very nicely.

renegade_si 11-05-2003 01:44 PM

it was actually, believe it or not, the first time I had seen a silver today....not sure if I prefer the Titanium Grey....its a toughie.... I'm happy though that I didn't go red in the end though. Sorry guys. Too flat under a dull light...

Murphy 11-05-2003 01:50 PM

I would have gone for silver if it wasn't for the fact that my last 2 cars were silver. I was also tempted by the black but its a "high maintenance" colour so that ruled it out.

Saw a 6 in Titanium when I visited the dealer and liked it a lot, so Titanium it is!

Murphy 11-05-2003 01:53 PM

Just noticed... in the second picture is that a passer by? The car certainly seems to have caught their attention! :)

Jon H 11-05-2003 01:55 PM

Its a gem, the good thing is it will stay shiny a lot longer than my black one which is already a bit mucky.
Saw a silver and a grey on the way up the M1 to pick mine up (the first I had seen on the road). Also saw a red one at my dealer. What gets me is that in the flesh each colour takes on its own character, almost like they are different cars. Cant think of another car that pulls that off the same way. Every colour looks great in its own way, but very impressed with the silver. Hope you love yours as much as I do! Initial thoughts on the driving experience? Or will I find those on a different thread....?

...murphy...hehe theres been a couple of comments on this one now - its the missus walking up our drive - realising how much we've spent on a ..... car! ulp!

Still a quick trip to McDs for tea and all but one now of the finding nemo toys for our 3 year old and all was well. Even better, both the 1 month old's rock a tot seat fitted behind me, and the 3 years olds maxi cosi priori fitted behind the missus'. Yaaay!

Stuartt 11-05-2003 01:58 PM

Well done si :D

:D All in all, I'd say a pretty good day! :D

renegade_si 11-05-2003 02:03 PM

Jon H.....no mate, haven't typed a thing yet, traffic has been terrible. Got 52 miles on the clock now. Best thing was the bursting with pride driving it from Weybridge to Byfleet to pick up the mats from the T W Whites there. People did stop in the street and look! I even had a couple of blokes in the big Marks and Sparks/Tescos - in the tescos petrol station walk straight up to the front and kneel down in front of it - I dont think they were bowing, but you never know!

renegade_si 11-05-2003 02:05 PM

Jon, whats really funny is that I'm changing my homepage at the moment to put the rotary gif on it and I've been looking for a post of yours - last I remember was the Newbury/ep3 slag off thread and then I got it then find you've posted here!

I'm glad you are dead happy with yours, and I agree about the colours taking on a different look. Maybe we're just mad with overload now after the famine that preceeded it!

renegade_si 11-05-2003 02:09 PM

Right, I'm off to go and drive around for a couple of hours, so if you are around Surrey/hants/berks you may see me!!!

Will take my 3 yr old...

Si

renegade_si 11-05-2003 02:10 PM

...oh sorry Stuartt didn't see you popping in there! Thanks mate! Whens yours due?

Stuartt 11-05-2003 02:36 PM

No worries Si.

I should pick mine up during the last week of November.

Only 1 problem though - there are 2 other RX8's of the same colour in cambridge, both of them are forumn members (Lensman and ????).

Perhaps we could go out in a trio and kill us some saxo's? ;)

Hope you enjoyed your drive

AnilS 11-05-2003 02:42 PM

Stuartt, you think you got worries, another chap at work has just ordered the same T/G car as I did back in Jan. Two Tit Grey cars in the same car park!!!! Bit common all of a sudden (but theres no accounting for taste).:D

There's at least four of us:
You, me, Jon Brittan and a woman who had her car unveiled at the Priory Mazda open night last friday. All Titanium Greys. Nice car Renegade. I also saw a silver that night and liked it a lot. Please bear in mind that I normally dislike silver cars so it's an anomaly.

renegade_si 11-05-2003 03:37 PM

Thanks Lens! Thats praise indeed! I may be in Cambridge on the 15th.....in the car of course!

Pillman 11-05-2003 03:59 PM

Looks great....congratulations..

Contigo 11-05-2003 04:01 PM

Si!

Thought you were getting a plate made up?

Or was that going to delay you getting the vehicle?

renegade_si 11-05-2003 04:53 PM

Yes, that and the fact that the DVLA doc hasn't arrived yet - Rich606, any update?! B8 RXB it will be.

It'll be good to meet up soon again Contingo....

renegade_si 11-05-2003 04:55 PM

Thanks pillman! Not long til yours!

renegade_si 11-05-2003 05:17 PM

This is the keys and the alarm/immobiliser set. Different to the ones on the test drive cars in September (the press cars from July).

The alarm box is a LOT larger. IN fact, bleeding uncomfortable.

Theres 4 buttons on it.

Top right - lock doors and set alarm (lights flash once)
Bottom right - unlock (lights flast twice)
Top left - press this after you set the alarm/lock. It keeps the main alarm but disables the interior movement sensors. For kids when you lock them in (already used it tonight!) (lights flash 4 times)
Bottom Left - boot release.

You get 2 alarm thingies and 3 keys. The one without the shiny silver mazda logo is the master that you mustn't lose or else can't make another key from it. The other 2 keys are identical.

The Mazda fobs are from the dealer, T W Whites. Not sure if this is what everyone else will get too - dealers name and address stamped on the back

renegade_si 11-05-2003 05:17 PM

Ok the dash. Normal, clicked on mode...

renegade_si 11-05-2003 05:19 PM

Reeeeddddddddd

renegade_si 11-05-2003 05:20 PM

and then this one....this is when you turn off the ignition and the lights and go to leave the car. Nic dark blue. I know its dark here, but I didn't want to lighten the picture to give the best contrast with the others. The main one is soooo bright in comparison!

renegade_si 11-05-2003 05:22 PM

ooh by the way, note the position of the fuel gauge - 41 miles since filling to the brim and already its 1/8th gone. So estimation of 320 miles range on a tank? (71 miles in total now. sob its not new any more!)

Harrizone 11-05-2003 05:26 PM

renegade-si,

On the issue of number plates and your choice, I wonder if anyone is going to take up the option of H8RXB (Hate RX 8) which is also available. It will take a braver man than me.

renegade_si 11-05-2003 05:36 PM

Hehe - yes, I saw it - and actually did think about it for a laff. Someone got L8 RxB which is also funny!

Irish_in_a_RX8 11-05-2003 08:44 PM

So sweet. I love the back spoiler. Very happy I decided to go without on mine renegade ( hey did you take that name from the old 8 bit computer games :-) ). I just need to find out if I can purchase it overseas. Coming home to UK in 3 weeks, perhaps I can swing by a Mazda Dealership.

I just purchased a Fuel Lid for my sunlight RX8. All the pics are on my site.

Just clocked 4000 miles, I rem the days of 50 miles, sigh...

All the best, and cheers for the pics.

renegade_si 11-06-2003 02:02 AM

Irish in a RX8 - erm yes I did. I used to work for US Gold, and Renegade was Ocean. I was always a guy who did things my way (when I was younger at least!) and so the handle stuck about 10 years ago.

KEF 11-06-2003 02:36 AM

sweet car renegade,

looks great in the silver (my second choice)

I was using a company 3 series yesterday and it's amazing to note that the '8 is better in every department, handling, visibility, interior layout, power, braking, stability (it's been blowing gales up here)

I know i keep coming back to this point, but every other car has the hand brake in the wrong place, why has it taken so long for someone to come up with that scimitar brake lever and position.

so many nice touches, so little daylight left to enjoy them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

KEF Owner of the dirtiest RX-8 in the UK (can i get a karcher for xmas)

RobDickinson 11-06-2003 03:16 AM

Gratz on the car! looks good, now wheres mine:)

ashk 11-06-2003 04:27 AM

Congratulations

I got my silver car yesterday and was far too busy to visit the forum. How long do you think the grin on my face will last, I'm in danger of doing a passable impression of Jack Nicholson's Joker:D :D :D
I've already been stopped by 4 people in the street asking about the car and turned so many heads, can't wait to run it in and give it some serious hammer, how long do you think you'll be able to resist the lure of the buzzer;)

Brooker 11-06-2003 06:17 AM

Congratulations renegade_si

The car looks great - and I think you're currently winning the award for the best pictures posted on the Europe Furum!

renegade_si 11-06-2003 06:57 AM

Thanks mate - oh by the way I was told porkies about the keys - the grey one is not the master, but the valet parking key which doesn't allow you to unlock/lock the rear centre and the glove box etc...you need the code on the keyring (DONT LOSE THAT!) its only a little metal number that you may be tempted to throw away - thats the code they use to make a new key /immobiliser for you...

Renegade, you know I have about 2000 ole speccy games on my PC, I always have a bash at Target Renegade :-) US Gold - impressive!

Did the price for the RX8 turn out higher than what was advertised? I know here in Philadelphia local dealers are charging 35K and over ( not inc tax etc )

Pillman 11-06-2003 02:32 PM

renegade_si...how cool is that rear light cluster...you know I thought I had been all over these cars with a fine tooth-comb about 100 times but I have never noticed that amazing rear view as shown from your rear lip spoiler pic..

renegade_si 11-09-2003 06:33 PM

Thanks Pillman and Irish. Sorry only just read your posts - no wonder the thread died!!

Right Pillman, yes they look great - in fact, Im gonna now do one of the front again to show how cool they are too...

Irish - £22,300 on the road - not bad eh - at 1.5 thats $33,450 (including tax!) but then again I think thats inc leather etc for you lot isn't it and cruise control etc - we dont get those...
