IE Effects of a Mid-Pipe?

Hi all,

I was thinking of getting rid of my cat and replacing it with a Mid-Pipe. How would this affect emissions? Would it pass an NCT?

The bad:
You will have a cel and a engine light on. No big deal get a scangaugeII. Sometimes the engine light will go away lol then come back on. You will fail the snif test and not pass.
The good:
Your car will run less hot. Save your cat for smog day. Love the new sound of Rotory and yes you will feel some power
I like the good so I went for it and love it. I keep my cat for smog days.

Not a snowballs chance of passing the NCT without the CAT. I got a CEL which I could not get to stay off. In the end I fitted a high flow cat which will pass the NCT and the car sounds and smells better.

I have the AccessPort so that'll do for getting rid of cels.

Where did you get yours? How much? Who fitted it for you? I have noticed a fairly odd smell from exhaust fumes

Does a highflow cat pass the typical EC tests? (ours are once every 2 years).

Have been considering one, but hard to say which one is the best. Don't want crazy loud sound :P

Midpipe + 100 cels race cat + Racing Beat REV8 sounds perfect almost to little.

Dominion could you please avoid posting misleading infos?
What Azathoth says is correct. With a high flow cat you will pass emissions in most of the european countries.
Plus Lars \Lasse Wankel is a well respected tuner here and he thoroughly tests every product he markets. We've been collaborating for some stuff so i know how much he studies anything before even considering it.

@neXib, Lasse is coming out with some good alternatives for you guys looking for a catalyzer that won't melt (like the brain cat does) i would try and contact him via mail. Pm me if you need his address.

The fact that you won't pass emissions and real high flow catalyzers (Ferrita, HJS and such) in combination with a muffler or a resonator will not be that loud.
The car will run cooler as well, you will be able to take objects from the small boot\cup holder too, with a high flow cat.

Europe has different emissions laws than the US so our experiences with emissions and what works doesn't always apply.

Yep, and a high flow cat won't throw a cel in.

That's what happens when you put a random catalyzer on.
I had no CELs with Brain and Re amemiyas, who uses Ferrita doesn't have them as well. So far so good, and i don't have 2004 car that might not throw'em anyway.

bse50: He's probably on at least one other forum I'm on, but I don't know who he is specifically. Could you pm me his contact details?

I surely would love an original looking highflow cat.

So you are that Italian guy he speaks about that wants to buy his midpipe?

I think they just gone in preproduction, I sent a midpipe for testing the new HJS Catalysator. I hope it will be done soon.

Lasse will soon have these nice Ver. 2 midpipes, eager to test it out =)

his homepage is www.wankelracing.se

I have been using Ferrita Midpipe with race cat from last year, sound level is great and no cels, no problems passing emission.

Soon Ver. 2 is out.

I am the guy that put him in contact with the other italian guy
We usually talk about renesis porting and stuff like that but i really admire his work in general and usually suggest him to the guys who need catalyzers and such!
