General consensus is no.
Isnt a hack available, and from what I've read here (from people who've taken it apart) is its missing some components that are needed to turn it into a DVD video player.

There have been numerous threads about this including Navagation System, playing movies? but, as Rob said, the short answer is "No".
Try a seach on "DVD" and "movies" if you want all the gory details.

I took some DVDs to try out on my test drive (completely forgot to mention it in my review afterwards).
They don't play (which didn't surprise me).
You can likely hack the screen to display a feed from a different source since it is the same system that is in the Mazda 6 and this has been done already. You will need a seperate DVD player though.

That's interesting. My dealer told me it does play DVD's. Then again, when asked about fuel consumption he reckoned the 8 does about 35-40mpg on the combined run. :p
Thanks goodness for this forum otherwise I might have believed him.
