Thanks Patrick,

It took some time to get the 373 pages downloaded, but it was worth waiting for.
I am going to print the pages after workingtime and hope my printer will manage during the night.

Thanks again.

Halllo Eric

Are we for real the only 2 from the low countries on this forum ?
I can not believe this, for I know that 50 cars were preordered in Belgium. Do you have a clue howmany were preordered in the Netherlands ?

Dear Patrick,

Two weeks ago, Mazda Holland had 24 pre-orders. Most of the 8ths will go to Mazda management.
We are, I assume, indeed the only 2 from the low countries on this forum. When is your car due to arrive?
According to Mazda Holland mine will be at the dealer on the 5th of December.

Greetings,

Eric

Halo Eric,

I have the same date (05.12.03). My car should arive at the dealer with 6 other LP's. I realy hope this time it will be just. Two weeks ago the responsable people from Mazda Belgium told me that there was at that point no change of delivery dates.

You know, I'm very cautious reading all the posts of the UK mentioning delays. I sold my MGF in may and since I use my fathers Daihatsu Applause AUT, but ... thats nearly a car.

If the 5th of december could be just it would be a nice "Sinterklaas" for us.

What did you preorder ?

Have a nice day,

Patrick van België

Hi, I'm also from Belgium

It has been a long time I've been posting something. It's the first time I see Belgian people on this forum. I already thought there weren't any rx-8 enthusiasts in Belgium. Do you know if there are already rx8's running in Belgium? Because I haven't seen one driving around yet.

I hope to own a rotary once too, but for the moment I'll stick with my mx-5...

Dear Patrick,

I ordered in March a RX8 LP with Nav, en 6 cd-changer. Going to order some extra's when available. I sold my MX5 to the dealer, but I am still driving it untill now. We have had a really nice summer, so I did not regret having my MX at that time.
Sinterklaas could come on the same boat as our 8ths perhaps.
And Beemer, that makes two Belgian, I am still on my own I guess.

Regards,

Eric

Dear Patrick,

According to my dealer, my 8 will arrive in Antwerpen somewhere around the end of November. I guess yours will be on that ship also.

A few more weeks patience will be possible, but very hard.

Eric (and thanks for the link to the accessoires)

Unhappy

Patrick and Eric,

You're not the only ones from the low countries on this forum.
I've been following the RX-8 and this forum from the beginning but didn't make many posts simply because I will not buy the car.
The money just isn't there...too bad.

But congratulations with the car and hopefully for you it will arrive before Sinterklaas.

Patrick, where did you order yor car? Was it at the dealer in Kuurne? If so, that's just minutes away from work.

Greetings from the Westhoek!

PS: Wij vieren hier St.-Maarten (11 nov.), maar er zat geen RX-8 in de kous. Ik heb hier enkel de brochure liggen, om efkes bij weg te dromen.

Hello IEPER,

Yes I ordered my car on 28/01/2003 in Kuurne, after I was following this car since april 2002. I had a MGF but also a young boy, and that was the problem. So I searched a sportscar with 4 places on the web and ...

If you would like to see the car, you can always give me a sign. My E-mail : patrick.stephanie@planetinternet.be

Sorry, bij ons ist Sinterklaas maar ja m'n auto, daar zullen we ook moeten voor werken hoor.

Thumbs up

Hey Belgium,

Just had mail to confirm that the original mounted car-security system is a VV2 (classification for Belgian assurance compagn.)

So this must be suficient for most compagnies.

Hey Patrick,

I ordered a class III alarm as an extra option. I have the same on my MX 5 and it gives me a somewhat comfortable feeling, more than with the standard VV2 system.
I printed the accessories list and the pricelist. Do you know anything about extra's in Belgium or Holland?
The first option my dealer can offer me at this moment (it's in his computersystem by Mazda) are winterwheels and tires. I bought those two years ago for my MX (15 inch) but I do not know if I will order them now for the 8. I think I will go for a lot of other options from that list first.

By the way, a collegue of mine from our company in St. Niklaas called me and he told me that he saw many trailors with 8ths on it. Where did they go ??????

Regards,

Eric

Hi Eric,

I intend to upgrade my VV2 system with a what we in Belgium call a CJ1 system; thats a anti-carjacking system without satelite location but that immobilizes the car after a few hundred meter.
I will put it on myself, VV2 is enough for insurance.

I just saw a German brochure with extra's, without prices. My dealer told me that he had no Dutch brochure yet. It would come after delivery of my car. If I have news on that, I'll let you know.

And ... if it is right that RX8's have been seen (in the direction of your country ?) that would mean that the cargo did arrive in Antwerp sooner than expected. Yesterday I searched the web for a clue witch boat could arrive with our cars, and when but ... no info found. On the Easter-forum I asked if anyone from Japan (Osaka port) could tell me witch boat had left wit RX8 and when ... no answer yet. So it is realy a hard time to find info on delivery. I got mail from my dealer, confirming that the system was VV2 and that he will very soon (???) anounce me when my car will be there.

In the weekend I will try to inform myself on those movements of trailers and I will stay in touch.

regards
Patrick

Hi all,

I just have confirmation of my date of 05/12/2003 and of the fact that the RX8 is already in Belgium, so also in the Netherlands. Delivery is retarded on purpose so that there will be time to commercialise the Mazda 3 first.

I have here a great publication concerning all aspects of the RX8, publication for the dealers only. I have to read it and if anything important is in it I will let you know.

One new element (technicaly important) : there will be available a meter showing the level of oil each time you start the engine. I will purchase such a meter, my dealer has even not yet the price for it.

Patrick,

Thanks for your info. I immediately called Mazda Holland but that was an anti-climax.
I shouldn't be inpatience, they told me. My car was planned for 5 december to arrive at the dealer and that was it. No nothing. Called my dealer, but he did not know anything more. Seems they are to busy with other things.
One question. I read something about an alarm going off. Does the RX has a standard alarm?? I bought, as I wrote earlier, a Classe 3 alarm for 700 euro's. Do you know anything about prices of accessoires in Euro's ?? Do you know where in Antwerpen Mazda take the cars? I am going to St. Niklaas next wednesday and could go there to have a look.

Regards,

Eric

Hi Eric,

In Belgium we use other classifications for alarm-levels. The standard mounted allarm is a VV3; that means key rpotection, combined with the immobiliser (no gas, no voltage if not the right FLOATING CODE from the key) + a perimetric and volumetric alarm that goes off giving a sirene (or the buzzer) and the pinking lights.

What is not standard : a anti-carjacking system which immobilises the car after a few hundred meters leaving it in full alarm or a carjacking system with satelite tracking.

I had information from my dealer for a basic anti-carjacking system (no satelite tracking) for about 5OO EUR; but I do not know if it was a original Mazda product. If you like it, I'll ask it next weekend and let you know.

Accessories in Euro see the German RX8-forum

T : 03/890.91.11
F : 03/890.91.18

Regards,

Patrick

they may find you a bit to "informed"
they wait until after the launch of the New Mazda 3 : WHY GOLF...IF YOU CAN GET SEX ? that is the slogan in Belgium
I say : WHY WAIT IF THEY ARE ALREADY THERE (welprotected ?)

Last news,

For Western Europe the cars did all arrive at Antwerp and from there they are driven (France, Netherlands, Luxemburg) or they go by smaller boat (Gemany, Spain, Portugal) to the head dealers in every country.

So trailers with RX8 on it will be a normal sight, here and there in Europe.

I had this morning firm confirmation of the arrival date of my car at the dealers : 05.12.2003.

Now just a 2,5 weeks more patience.

Holy Belgium

As the only country in Europe the alarmsystems classification is more severe. Our assurances (bandits) together use a other system : VV1, VV2, VV3, CJ1, CJ2, CJ3. The first 3 refer to an enforced class1, class, ... system.

Result, the mounted system does not meet the standard, so I have to mount a additional alarm-system.
Lets talk about Europe ???

Hi Patrick,

Just received a call from my local dealer.
My VIN has showed up in their computer.
They only cannot tell me where my 8 is at this time. Could be on the water, or perhaps even in Antwerpen.
They also have got a list with accessoiries, no prices and not all pictures. But, our patience will be rewarded I guesss.
It is just a matter of a couple of weeks now.
Do you know anything yet?

Regards,

Eric

Eric,

I think your car must be at Antwerpen, there have been unloaded a lot of cars for Western Europe.
