Question Deliveries?

I've ordered my RX8 through Lex Autolease back in March, they call every month to update me on the delivery, last weeks call confirmed that everyting was on target for my requested delivery date of the 20th September (company car goes back, cash alternative), and it may be available early?

Has anyone else ordered their car this way?

Sorry but you'll be luck to see the car in October.

Production starts 28/7 ends 20/8, shipping takes 4-6 weeks.

2-3 weeks of prep by mazda. and thats mid October.

Unless of course they are getting these cars imported as JSPEC cars. It is just impossible to think you will like any of us get the car anytime before early October. Like Rob says production finished mid - to late August for the first 1000. These are shipped in the one ship i would imagine. With a 36 day shipping.

IF they finish on the 20th August and take say 2 days to load the ship. We are looking at 36 days from the 22nd. Looking at the 27th September for it to hit our shores. (at the earliest) Then you have about at least a week to distribute to the various dealers. Another week to get them registered.

Earliest date as i see it is around the 10th - 17th October.

One worry is the delay in the release of the cars from the ports in the US.

I think some of them were there for over 3 weeks.....

Chris

Sorry to be negative.

Unhappy

I got a call from my dealer this morning and he said that I am very unlikely to see mine before December.

But you are one of the first 1000 cars. So that kind of suggests that the pre-order cars won't all be arriving in one big shipment in October.

I don't think I am in the first thousand. I only ordered my car last week and I didn't get a 'book' - which the dealer told me was only sent out to the first thousand pre-orders as an apology for the delays. Hopefully that's good news for the rest of you guys.

Like many of you, I am starting to dream of this car! Everything I have read/seen/heard about it seems right (apart from the accessory prices) but I haven't pre-ordered (despite 2 dealers trying hard to get the money out of me the day Mazda started taking deposits!).

I didn't preorder for three reasons...

1. I need to part-ex my 2002 MR2 roadster and getting an accurate price months before a possible exchange is not possible.

2. I REALLY wanted to see a UK spec car 'in the flesh' and drive it before deciding.

3. The thought of someone earning interest on my £1000 for what could be 6-9 months made me qeasy!

So, here's the questions...
How long before I get to see (and hopefully drive) the RX8, and how long after I order before I get the car?

Why not just place an order now? You can cancel it at any time.

The cars should be available for test drives in November. If you order then you will get the car sometime next year, who knows when. Whereas if you order now, there is a chance you will get it this year. And you will still be able to test drive and get a firm part exchange value before you commit.

I think the interest on £1000 is a non-issue. In six months it comes to twenty quid, minus tax. Mazda do keep £100 of the deposit if you cancel though. But thats the only downside I can see.

I agree with ChrisW, if you pre-order worst case is you loose £100. Even then you may well get it back if you insist.

I need to part-ex too like most people, but you should be able to get some idea of your current cars worth.

I will hopefully test drive a demo car at the dealer before I pick mine up, just to make sure.

As for the deposit, I put mine on a credit card and transferred it to one with 0% interest so I havent paid any. (Six months is up now so maybe I should move it again).

Cheers
Mark

I guess you're right guys... 1000 on a lo/no interest card with the view that I could change my mind after I'd driven it (what are the chances :D )

Thing is, this means I have to decide on the colour before I place my deposit. Shucks, life is full of tough choices!

£100 loss from your deposit .. NOT. My dealer is offer my full £1000 back. Probably as there are 3-4 people waiting for a cancelled order in Redditch.
