Dealer invite to RX-8 Roadshow

Ive had a call from my dealer this weekend to go and see the RX-8 on its UK roadshow.

My venue is the Heritage Motor Museum at Gaydon on July 26th AM.

Im looking forward to it, the only downside is that you have to go on your own. I would have much rather brought the Mrs or a mate along for company.

Anyone else here going on the same day?

Heard nothing here yet.

Brother in law works at Gaydon (ford group designer) so I'll see what he knows about it later.

Not a peep from my man and having spoken to him only late last week I am under the impression that he does not know.

I think I will have to give my dealer a call in the morning and see if they know anything about this, probably not.

I beleive it is the same car, but they will also have paint and leather samples which I havent seen yet. It also means you get to see the car without lots of other people round it.

As its not for another 5/6 weeks they may also have more info on dates, accessories etc so I think it is worth an hour of my time.

I'm not going to drive halfway across England to see The Blue Car yet again. But why would they use this one? Mazda are supposed to be getting 20 RX-8's into the UK for the UK press launch by middle of July. Surely they would use some of these, seeing as thay are proper UK spec cars. (Maybe we will get to see a red one ).

Had my invite today.

Bristol - 3.5 hours drive

8.30 - 9.30 pm on 8/7/03

If I go it'll be a long night! Only consolation is that my dealer will be chauffeuring me there.

Cheers

I think I will definitely be giving my dealer a call, as Bristol is only 1 hour from me.

Oilman,

Thats almost 3 weeks before mine.

Whoever goes first is duty bound to put a detailed post on here as to what to expect!

Cheers

Oilman,

Will try and snap some photos. Let's hope it's a shiny RED one!!

Dealer said that as there are 5/6 of us, mode of transport likely to be the MPV. BORING!!

Cheers

Got a call from my dealer to go for an hour on the 6th July down to Bristol.

Not bothered cos the car is only a pre-production vehicle (ie same one as at the MotorExpo)

I'll just wait until they have an actual UK car for me to climb into.

ie delivery day :D

I'd be interested to know if they are going to fire the engine up (or maybe even drive the car!) for these days. If they d then it's worth going to see it again but I somehow doubt it's gonna happen.

I have just spolen to my dealer and he confirmed there is an event on the 7th July in Bristol.

His slot is for 10 people at 7:30 pm

I told him I had only heard through the grapevine that there was such and event, he responded by saying that he had been trying to contact me for the last couple of days and that the deadline for names and numbers (from Mazda UK) was 5pm yesterday. But as they had not used up their full allocation he would give them a call and see what he could do for me.

He then proceded to ask for my phone number??????? I think he had been dialling ramdom numbers for the past two days and not managed to get hold of me.

Fingers crossed he can get me in.

Don't you just hate it when the person is obviously lying? I like to make them squirm as much as possible in those situations.:p

Thumbs up

Edinburgh International Conference Centre

August 9th.

Dealer offered to take me from stirling, but I'm as quick going straight there myself, plus I don't have to share a minibus with a bunch of car nuts (wot, like me?)

also got my book finally, nice bit of work (pics of black look great), should be able to finish it before I have to delve into the new Harry Potter (girlfriend just read it in about 36 hours, obsessive if you ask me)

took the oportunity to sit in a top line mazda 6 at the dealership, the bose system sounds fairly good, if a little vague, hope that the '8 lives up to their press hype.

TW Whites called - 14th July @ Henley

Hi - confirmed from Sarinda from T W whites in Weybridge that the date for us is

14th July 5-6pm or 6-7pm

1 Person only to attend

Its the blue car from the motorexpo, the engine will not be on, but they will go through in more depth than the expo and can answer more specific questions since then.

Also that its looking like end sept first week in oct as we orderd early and are getting the silver car which is not th emost popular - titanium most popular and will have to wait a couple of weeks longer, depening on where you are in the queue.

Im going from 5-6 so if you want to meet up.....!

Si

isnt this all a bit sick now though?

Heres a pre-production car you cant drive, or even start the engine.

It may or may not be anything like the car you've ordered, which by the way you wont see for another 4 months!
