Contact!

After hearing nothing at all for a few weeks I get two bits of contact on the same day. I arrive home from work to find my 'fulfilment pack' which is a nice personalised document confirming my order details etc.

Then when I'm half way through my evening meal I get a phone call from Mazda UK to confirm my order details and ask if I had any questions. As I wanted to get back to my food I only asked the all important question of when I would get my delivery date confirmation and she said that letters would be sent out the end of this month and the end of next month!

So once again - the end of the month (not saying which one exactly) for delivery date letters.

I wonder if my moan on these forums about the lack of contact from the dealership prompted the call?

So, basically, they're making it up as they go along... Could and SHOULD do better. Now before I get accused of whinging (again) imagine any other transaction where the delivery date is indeterminate and potentially many months away and ask yourself whether the supplier (even for something as trivial as a poster) would inform you of expected shipping times. Now amplify that up to the scale of a £25K vehicle and once again ask yourself whether anyone who has laid down £1000 should be given some information regarding expected delivery. I tend to think we should and I also think that Mazda are taking the ****!

In my discussion a week or so ago, I was told they would be sending out a letter shortly as a general updateon the situation. I would expect this letter to be the first one.

We will also be getting a letter to confirm your visit to the RX-8 roadshow (provided you are going) once they have got confirmation back from the dealers as to who is/isnt going.

As our cars are not likely to be built until mid/late July, I would think that the letter at the end of July will be the one with the delivery date.

I had a nice surprise when I got back from Le Mans on Tuesday. I had received my confirmation, like yourself, with a printed booklet detailing my order, spec and website details.

Popped into T W Whites in the afternoon, and they had received my book.

And the dealer manager had returned from Japan with lots of goodies for me to look through. I now have a copy of the RX-8 "Shop Options" catalogue, a couple of other RX-8 japanese brochures and a japanese version of our book - with lots of pics of the car, early RXs, the Le Mans winner etc etc... (all printed back to front )

If anyone wants me to put scans of any of the material up, let me know. I'm not sure if any of this information has been put on here before.

Oh, and for your information - Mr White has ordered 8 Mazdaspeed kits and 5 Mazda kits for the RX-8. They have been ordered in different colours since they all come pre-painted. My Mazdaspeed kit is on its way :D

So if you're interested, pop down to their Bookham branch and he should be able to sort you out

Agree with previous comments. If I order a £5 book from amazon, I get an eta!

The problem is that they have completely underestimated demand, and are filling the Japan market first.

I get the impression Mazda UK are almost as in the dark as we are.

My pack was supposedly sent on the 13th, but I havent recieved it yet. Not sure if this is Royal Mail problem or not.

I'm just going to assume the car will come in December, and if it comes sooner, I will consider it a bonus!

Edo, you're being a bit generous to Mazda, in not expecting the car before December. I'm hoping to still get mine in September to enjoy what little decent weather we may have left.
My dealer knows if he mentions October ...... order cancelled.
Also, have recieved no pack from dealer and very limited contact. I'm doing most (if not all) of the chasing up.

After nothing for weeks I get a letter and a phone call yesterday and another letter today! They are now spamming me!!!

Don't get excited about the possible contents of the letter - it was only to say that my book was in the dealership.
