Confirmation pack!

Arrived this morning. Anyone else?

Not much to it really, a pic of the car in the colour you've chosen, your list of options, order number (RX8-200867 - does that mean my "EP number" is 867?) and your login details for the web site.

Nice to have something on paper at last, the web site wasn't a complete black hole after all.

Got mine too.

I know it's better than silence. But is anybody else feeling just a little disappointed.

Even a proper brochure would have been something to drool over.

Oh well, maybe now we will get something every month.

Yep, mine arrived. Still in blue though despite my change to tit. Doesn't actually get me anywhere because I had access to the website anyway but at least I have a receipt for my £1000. Mazda claim they will send more out on a monthly basis. Hmmm....

Post arrives after I leave but nothing as per yesterday. I think it would just be nice to see your car on order and some sort of recognition by Mazda.

I will be pushing for freebies later!

I dont think I'll be getting my welcome pack yet....had a call from Mazda this afternoon saying there has been a 'glitch' with my order process, which is why I havent had any confirmation yet.

They need to confirm my details which will then release a confirmation email to me.

Once Ive had this email I will be getting my welcome pack "once Mazda have received payment from my dealer". I paid my dealer 2 months ago so I dont see why this is a problem.

I have however been assured this has not affected or delayed my order, but Im a bit sceptical.

Good job these people dont work in a brewery......

Website order status changed to 'accepted' yesterday, but nothing in the post today.

I'll give it a couple more days.

Well, I have received a very poor quality photocopy of a printout of a web page with my order details, together with an equally grotty photocopy of a six-page contract for me to sign and return. All beautifully presented in a handwritten brown envelope.

At first I thought it was a mailshot from one of the local Indian restaurants

Err, and that came from Mazda themselves? Or was it from your dealer? Everything I've received from Mazda has been in one of their white "Zoom Zoom" envelopes, reasonably well-printed, and no sign of a contract either.

Dealer. For those that doubted it, the contract does strongly suggest that the cars will be built to order - e.g. 'Mazda will arrange to have your vehicle configured as set out in your Order and delivered to the Dealer that you have specified in your Order'.

This is the same contract that is available to pre-orderers on the website. By placing an order you are bound by it's terms and conditions.

I got nothing...

Phoned Mazda yesterday and they called me back assuring me that welcome packs had been sent out.

My status was only submitted when I last checked (yesterday).

Damn them all ! ! !

Update - Status now 'Accepted'

Incidently - the 'FAQ' makes pretty interesting reading.
Seems first cars will be late July.

July Delivery

I seem to remember someone telling me (might have been one of my talks with Mazda UK) the July cars are the showroom and demonstrator cars for the dealers. So customers can see the cars and have a test drive. Dealers are to recieve 2 cars, a demonsrator and a showroom car.

This was a small production run that happened before the main UK one started.

However i dont know how many cars have been ordered but i cant see all dealers getting cars.

How many Mazda dealerships are there?
How many cars will be needed to stock all their showrooms?

Around 100 franchise dealers across the UK. If they're getting two each that's quite a few cheap ex-demonstrator cars knocking around over the next year or so. I bought my MX-5 that way, knocked a quid off the price for every mile driven, broken in and all initial bugs ironed out but probably thrashed a wee bit (no more than I have though

Gotta say - I would *never* buy an ex-demo....

If it works for you - then good luck , but I have known too many people in the car business and those cars are *hammered*.
No run-in , no warm-up, just plain thrashed...

Maybe I am too 'precious' about it , but I would rather pay the extra , have it new and ensure that the car is properly bedded in and cared for.

As an aside - do we know anything about the run-in schedule yet ?

Nothing received by me over the week-end. Spoke to Mazda Uk in Dartford this morning who advised that the delay was due to the high demand for the car and that confirmations are being sent out in the next few days.

I got mine confirmed over the phone just to make sure.

rael.

I have nothing either.

Mazda assured me last week all had been dispatched.
I am giving them today and then I am going to get majorly stroppy.

It clearly staes on their website that you will receive confirmation pack in 7-10 days (I am sure - will double check).

Mazda - If you are reading - NOT GOOD ENOUGH !

I have also received nothing in the post.

Starting to get annoyed now.

Although my status on the web site did change from Submitted to Accepted.
