Choices choices....in the UK

Ok, i have the chance to go to England this september and i have decided to go to either thruxton (yay rx8's) or silverstone and do one of the driving experiences (probably involving ferraris and porsches. Which would you choose and why? (venues that is). I realized Silverstone is a drive, but it is the f1 track, and thruxton seems to use the rx8s in their experiences...ah i'm torn. any input would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

Mike,

You may have done this by now - only just picked upo this one as haven't been on this board in a while. If chosing one I'd personally go for the one using 8's depending on what the tuition consists of as it would hopefully improve my 8 driving depending how much they let you develop during the day.

If either courses provide decent tuition fine - if other courses are like the ferrari experiences I've heard of then I wouldn't bother. Chap I work with had a "red letter ferrari day" and had a few laps as a passenger with instructor driving in same at goodwood in a 348 then was allowed to drive 2 laps keeping it in same gear all the way. Had to queue up for his goes too. Obviously this is hearsay and you seem to be more clued than most but buyer beware of expensive days aimed at complete performance car novices.

If you've been to either let us know how you got on.

I would've gone for Thruxton - seeing the stunning RX-8 in its natural habitat......!
Which did you choose in the end?
More importantly - any pictures? :D

I've only ever done Silverstone (one "driving day" {really just a morning}) in a Lotuse Elise, and one "Supercar Experience" in a Ferarri.
The Supercar experience was a total rip-off. £90 quid for 4 laps, and only very basic tuition (no time for more).
However, Silverstone do have more than one track, and lots of big (usually empty) parking lots, where you can take your own car out and have fun.
Please note that this is entirely at your own risk, and your normal car insurance will NOT cover it should anything go "crunch".
