Any news on when we can expect to get our 'official delivery date' letters ? That was supposed to be soon wasn't it ?

Sounds early to me - I thought it was going to be end Oct/Early november ?
Maybe it takes 2-3 weeks to get the cars from port to dealer....

Cars were 'in port' a loooong time in the US, something like 5 weeks before they were shipped to dealers.

True, but our cars are already coming in with lower bhp (anyone who has read the various dyno threads on the main discussion page will understand this remark)

I dropped an email to Mazda asking if there was any news this weekend. Hopefully I will get a reply later this week and let you know.

Cheers

I spoke to the RX-8 Customer (help) line last week and all the girl on the other end kept repeating was

" We anticpate delivery of the first cars in lat October"

This was in answer to every question I asked about tracking of orders etc.

I then spoke to my dealer and he seemed surprised that I had not been given a firm delivery date from Mazda UK.

He was supposed to ring me back yesterday, but of course didn't, I will try him again today.

My dealer is already talking about November, eventhough the car was ordered in Jan.

When I was talking to one of the Dealer Principles preparing for his ride in Manchester I mentiond the end of October estimated date. He just laughed and said 'Yeah Right!'.

The Mazda marketing rep next to him didn't say anything in defence of the dates or otherwise so I presume they still have no firm dates as yet.

Had a reply from Mazda today, and they have have now allocated delivery dates.

At the moment they are only indicating delivery month, and a letter is in the process of being written which we will go out to us by the end of this month.

They will follow up with a more precise date once the cars are 'on water'

Cheers

MarkW -

Do you mean the letter will only give us a month , or that at the moment they only know month , but by the time we get the letters it will be a firm date ?

Morgan,

Correct, the letter will only give you month, ie October, Nov or Dec and they are preparing these now.

At least we'll get to know if the early orders will get theirs in October or not.

When the cars are on the boat they will give us a more accurate date which I presume will be communicated by a second letter.

What's that I see up ahead................?

...........a light at the end of the tunnel maybe?

Let's hope this is not another of Mazda UK's 'letters at the end of the month' of which we've been promised several. It will be nice to have just know a month, at least you will know when you will get your car with a + or - 15 day probability.:D

If Mazda read that post your letter will say 'July 2004' just so they are safe!

Just in case you're reading this Mazda I would remind you that Octovembuary is not a valid month :D.

Seriously though, mine had better say "November", because I am assuming further minor slippages, so I assume December will really mean after Xmas. I have to draw the line somewhere and I've always had in mind that I was not going to wait until next year
