Cool Calm Down Guys!

Ok so the letters are still going out, they're saying that our Dealers will let us know our delivery dates. Fine.

Just an appeal for calm. Has anyone been told that their car will not be here in November? I've heard nothing to the contrary so am assuming that November it is.

I've been waiting since January and there have been many highs and lows in that time but the wait is nearly over and I'm very glad for that because it's been too long.

Lets just cool it and wait until we know our delivery dates, it's gonna be worth it in the end.

Cheers
Oilman

Your gonna need that flame suit!

OK - the cars may still be on schedule for a november delivery but :

1. We were supposed to get a letter by the END of september telling us our delivery date.

2. "Late october, early november" has already become "mid november" ad the earliest.

3. My dealer sux.

4. WTF, accessory prices? they think were stupid or something ? £350 for a spare [/i]Which should come as standard![/i], and £130 for a key?

Nice cars mazda, shame about the customer service. Just hope they pick up before I get to JD power surveys.

I think the problem is that we are being SO screwed by Mazda UK's incompetence (not only do they miss the promised September deadline for the letters but when they DO arrive it's only to inform us that the dealers might eventually know vaguely when our cars will turn up - maybe...) that we need to vent our spleens. Venting them at Mazda UK has no discernable affect because they claim to understand the criticism and then promptly do another equally or more stupid stunt so the forum is our only outlet. Add to that the probability that Mazda reads these posts and it's a double whammy. There comes a point where the sheer frustration and anger of having to endure the actions (or more likely inactions) of these fools masquerading as professionals leads to boil over point!

I'm pretty sure I won't be getting my car in November, and have been given no delivery date yet. It was always going to be one of the later ones as its 'low' power and from the second batch of colours (green). Also, I didn't order until the middle of August a week after I first heard of the thing on Top Gear. The estimate given at the time was March.

Don't think I'm not sympathetic to the plight of those who have been waiting for the last five years or whatever, but if the early ones are delayed without too much of a knock on effect then it suits me fine as my car will not be such old news when I get it. (If you do get them early can you keep out of the West Midlands for a few months please.)

While I'm on, whats all this about buying the outlet fins. The car looks fine without, if they were considered an important part of the design then the should have been added as standard, which would probably cost about a tenner instead of the £169.95 being charged for the dealer retro fit. Perhaps Mazda are not stupid; they have a group of people champing at the bit to get their cars while delivery is delayed, what better way of keeping them occupied than by selling them overproced accessories. ("I may not have my car yet, but when it comes its going to be great because it'll have a hundred quids worth of piano black centre panel trim") Me, I'm saving my money for the "Exclusive RX-8 branded key case" a snip at 65 quid.

One final thought, you would not be complaining about Mazda so much if you'd ever dealt with Fiat.

You would not be complaining about Fiat so much if you'd spent seven months dealing with Mazda UK.

JCL, the fins/strakes (whatever) are essential to look of the car IMHO. The reason why they are not standard is so that Mazda can fleece us poor suckers for more readies. Barstewards!

BTW, I work in Birmingham (and I think MarkW does as well) so I'll make sure the 8 gets seen ASAP:D . Unless of course it gets nicked in Chinatown .

As I agree with everyone that the accessories are expensive lets not let us lose sight of the fact that

A. the car is unique
B. its very keenly priced
C. the wait is due to the car being so damned good Mazda cannot keep up!

OK .. for a change I'm not going to get on the negative vibe bandwagon ...

I first bought a Mazda Xedos 6 nine years ago when they were very rare (mind you they always have been!!) ....

It was the first really "curvy" car on the market and was tagetted at the all-conquering BMW 3-series. In my opinion it looked much sexier and was almost as capable. In fact 3 years after that I was due to renew my car and guess what I went for ....

Another Mazda Xedos 6 - this time with leather seats aircon etc... just couldn't find anything else on the car list that competed ...

Both Mazdas have been faultless ... and I really do mean faultless.

Now I have the chance to climb inside another groundbreaking Mazda that let's me be unique on the road ... I'm not a beemer driver, not one of the apparently millions of Audi TT drivers about nowadays ... not a boring old Porsche Boxster ... tempted by the VX220 turbo mind

Anyway ... happy with my choice and looking forward to it.

Ok so I'm outnumbered but it had to be said!

Why not sit down relax and wait for some firm news?

Just trying to put the current situation into perspective.

I'm with oilman on this one. Having waited this long for the car, and knowing that they are indeed going to be here soon, I'm happy to take a chill pill on this.

(That however will be reviewed rather quick if there is a hint of delays into December )

As ever accessories are a rip off, but we have other threads for that.

I too have taken a chill pill, I as long as I get my car in November I am banishing all negative thoughts.

OK, so its been hard work getting here, and we have not had dates when we were promised etc, but I do believe that Mazda UK have been in the dark as much as we have for most of the last 9 months and have tried to do what they can.

We can debate this issue forever, but at the end of the day its the cars we all want, and for most of us the wait is nearly over.

I would rather try to look forward than back now, soon we will have our cars and none of this will seem important.

Cheers
Mark

I too haven't posted much recently - and only then when I feel there is something constructive to add.

I am disappointed that we didn't get the exact delivery date that Mazda said we would have before the end of September.

However, Oilman and the guys are right, so what if we knew 2 weeks earlier than we will (by Fri of next week). In my case, as I already sold my car in June, it makes little odds. I can however see that others want to sell their cars. Again, the 2 weeks wont make much difference to depreciation, and its never going to be an exact science to match hand over of cars.

If your going dealer route, well, when has a dealer EVER given a decent price - even glasses guide price - Mazda dealers are no eception - and why should they? Sell the cars privately and buy a banger for a while. I did and my £250 buy has had to do me since the end of May! Its only let me down once in that time....

If we dont get a November date by the end of next week though, and my dealer call me with this date, rather than me chase them (I'm still waiting for my promised phone call of the limited print from them as they didn't have it in stock when I called before), then what can I do about it?

Very little. As Jonny Says (you're not Jonny Allen are you from Stourbridge - I'm from there!) other companies are as bad.

As for the strakes thing, its a preference. For those sacreligious ones who are thinking of putting the car through a car wash then dont get them. They do detract from the poor plastic mesh which can only be a good thing. I'm sure there will be 3rd party ones available in time...

I still haven't made up my mind about them, but on the silver, if I was then I'm in the polished camp as the mazda symbol on the front is also polished... (I know the weels are not, but I'd prefer these small garnishes to match each other)....

Almost Freezing

I too am fairly chilled and laid back about it now.

When the car comes it comes. - I would sooner it be delivered exactly how I want it rather than rushed and not purrfect before I get it.

Chill out folks, use the forum for constructive and informative stuff -

Just how it used to be.
