Installed

Here's a pic of it installed. I already had the tanks and was using a plate I made, I liked Dan's better so I ordered the backing plate and finally got it installed..

The first pic is the homemade plate that I was using. The second and third pics are the ones of Dan's backing plate installed..

The kit comes ready to paint. You can leave it plain or paint it whatever color you want.

Willard1,

Wiesel42 is correct, the plates are shipped with a bare metal finish. If you want to paint your's blue, we recommend starting with 1-2 coats of a bare metal primer spray paint (Rustoleum) followed by the spray paint of your choice. I used Rustoleum high gloss red enamel and it came out great.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

I used rustoleum paint and primer in one. Followed the directions on the can and used two coats.

Not trying to be rude but why not offer a group buy to the forum as this was just on Ebay for the same price. The seller was from your area too.

Adapter and Kit--Intro Price of $199

The first set of bundled Sohn adapters and install support kits have sold out. We expect to have more in next week.

If you would like to pre-order one at this limited time introductory price, please send me an email and I will make sure to reserve one for you. The intro price is $199+shipping but will revert to $209+shipping after this next batch. My email is dan@epitroch.com.

If you already have a sohn adapter, install support kits are still available for sale on both eBay and at epitroch.com. The price is $80+shipping.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hey Dan,
If you remember I was at Import Alliance with you. Anyway I was wondering if you were going to DGRR. I'll probably pick up a kit there since I just removed my air pump and have loads more space

I do remember. I am planning on going...found the website tonight and will register ASAP. Thanks for the reminder.

http://www.dealsgaprotaryrally.com/

I'll plan on bringing both complete bundles and just the install kits so folks will have both to choose from. Let me know which one you want and I'll set is aside for you.

Cheers,

Dan

Ebay says 225 + 23 dollars shipping? I read in the OP that this was 199? Are you giving discounts to RX8Club members? Thanks!

Seeing $225 + 12.45 shipping. If the original deal isn't available, then maybe this thread should be deleted/edited.

This is not a knock against epitroch, but you can source these parts yourself and save a little money. A few years back that is what a few of us did and his kit came out shortly after. Assuming things haven't changed, his suppliers are reputable and he does provide a service to this community.

Personally, I would NOT pay $225 ... I wouldn't pay $199 either.

ShellDude,

I understand your point of view. That said, for what you get, I believe we offer a very competitively priced product. Some reasons why:
1. A genuine Sohn adapter. Yes, there is a creep in Hungary making counterfeit parts with questionable seals
2. A very cool water jet cut Aluminum mounting plate for the containers that mounts to the firewall perfectly with all required fastening points...this is the real value of the kit--not some crappy hack sawed back plate.
3. A very well written set of installation instructions including all important notes, cautions and warnings; additionally a video is now available on YouTube as well
4. Savings on shipping--the expense of sourcing each part adds up quick
5. A RHD version for those rotary enthusiasts in the UK, Australia and New Zealand
6. Convenience--A proven kit with over 1,600 sold. No need to reinvent the wheel...Most folks want a clean install without a lot of hassle and are willing to pay for it. I can tell you that my margins are not high. Especially when the adapter is included.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Dan

Hi Dan,
i hope you are well.
I am not going to question the benefits of the Sohn adapter kit but I will question all of you guys that you overpriced everything after market upgrade or part for the rx8. Good business to take advantage the people that they love them cars, you know where they pain (car issues) and you overpriced a bloody plastic bottles, aluminium etc. You all start becoming more greedy than the Mazda lol 😝 and at least they bloody spend millions on research and tests and they overpriced everything to get it back. What you spend and don’t take it personal, general speaking .... a cost of 40-50 dollars kit max to sale it for 230 dollars, seriously??? I have a lot of examples like here in uk, they buy a part from US for £20 and they sale it for £120 and they think they are the makers, engine oil £20 more than the US price. I believe we have to turn our backs to all of you and probably you will start arriving to the ground and low your noses.
Thats all from me thank you for reading

Regards
Chris

What's this "we" business? Is there a mouse in your pocket or do you have multiple personalities.
Speak for yourself, buddy. I'm happy with my Epitrochoid kit.

My "forged" backplate was just fine, thank you . It was built with love, lilies and little bit of my own sweat and blood mixed in for good measure.

No I read it correctly. You hate the guy who did all the work to come up with a kit because he wants to make money.

I'm perfectly happy with my kit (which includes the amount of money I spent on it).

Nobody is forcing you to buy it. If you think you can source it for cheaper, then do so. There's no point in coming here to crap on this guy's thread.
