I emailed Koni last week, they replied they had no plans for developing them for the RX-8, and after reading Tirerack's assessment of the FSDs on the BMW they tested, I don't much care.

Just to corroborate, I got the same info from Koni when I called a few weeks ago; not going to have an RX-8 application. At least not in development yet.

I don't think we'll be missing out on much. It's intended more to be a 'comfort' shock, and thus wouldn't really be in character with the RX-8. From the Tirerack test it appears the FSD shocks keep up numbers-wise with Koni Sports quite well, but subjectively don't feel as direct or 'sporty' as the Sports.

Though we haven't tested them yet, I think if you want a more comfort-oriented replacement shock the Tokico DSP kit will be a good way to go. Don't know that yet, but with the broad range of adjustment I suspect they'll be able to be softer than Konis at their softest setting.

Certainly; didn't mean to imply the FSD is a junky shock or anything, just that it really isn't in character with something you'd put on a sports car, and that they don't make it for the RX-8 anyway so it's irrelevant.

And just to clarify for anyone reading along, the Koni Sports won't shake you to death by any means; they're firm, but they aren't TOO hard for daily use (I assume you weren't implying that TeamRX8, though some might assume that's what you meant).

And 'feeling' sporty isn't necessarily a boyracer thing; how quickly a car responds to inputs, how aggressive it feels on turn-in, and how rapidly it responds in transitions may not actually post better objective handling numbers, but it will inspire more confidence in the driver and thus make the car more entertaining to drive in the twisties or on track. And I'm all about a car being fun to drive, regardless of the numbers it puts up .

My wife drove on Koni sports for a couple years on a different car, actually, with no complaints, and she's far from a dedicated car enthusiast .

Anyway, that's probably enough on the FSD shocks on this forum anyway. . .

I was speaking in general, not toward any particular reply, no implication taken or intended they will appeal to a certain market, racers will want to look elsewhere

I deleted my previous reply just to make sure there was no misunderstanding
