indeed 450 usd is top price for an unused bhr midpipe, I have no problem paying that; however, there are additional landed costs for me as well as ship times... Nothing will get started in the sales and shipping world until the 5th realistically speaking and I'm not keen on driving around with a straight pipe - i bought the car with bad cat and plugs @ 50k km

Just gut the bad cat until you can get a proper midpipe. It retains the two stock chambers (cat chamber and resonator) so the sound doesn't change much from stock.

Can't beat $0 and no shipping cost/time. You already went through the trouble of pulling off the bad one...

even though the cat was plugged/clogged I passed emissions with it, in the case that I need to sell this car I decided to keep the cat intact so I wouldn't ahve to pay upwards of $1200 for one.

I saw that BHR has a midpipe with a cat for only 575? Is their cat any good?

I like this suggestion - just found a 05 rx8 being sold for parts I'll be picking up his old cata conv tonight. This way I'll be able to gut one.
