Question Will Price Drop for 2004 RX-8?

Hey Everyone,

I have had my eye on the RX-8 for quite some time now. I hope to get one within the next year. What I'm wondering is, will the price for the 2004 RX-8 drop once the 2005 model comes out? If so, by how much?

From what I've read, there are minimal differences between the '04 and '05 so getting the '04 model would still be pretty sweet. Thanks!

That all depends on what you're looking for. If you are looking for a specific color and options you might not get the best deal. "Blue Frenzy" seems to be having trouble getting a good deal on a 2004. Maybe its because in Calgary, there doesn't seem to be too many of them yet and I could be wrong (but will never admit it) but I don't think the 05 models are hgere yet. At least I hadden't seen any at the dealer I was at a couple of days ago.

hey! yea having a bit of trouble getting an awesome deal. i'm still at a "stalemate" with the dealers. I think that they REALLY want to get rid of what they have on the lot and kept pushing me to consider those. They REALLY want to clear their stock. But because I'm stubborn and adamant on Winning Blue GT with sunroof, it's a bit tougher ("apparently" there's only 1 in Alberta) ... so they kinda got me there. Well, the 05 "apparently" is supposed to be out in Dec, but I think they are embelishing.

But if you're flexible on the color and options, I'm sure you can get an alright deal. Note that I'm already at $42K including taxes but I'm a stubborn SOB and want to get a deal like rotten42!! Ha ha!

Arrival date

Hi guys, yeah I was told that all 2004 RX8s have arrived in Vancouver, hence, no new ones will arrive. expect new arrivals in mid October.

Also, what are the odds of getting a 2004 GS modeL for less than the MSRP of 36k? If invoice is $34k, I wonder what the lease payment would equate to at this price.

I'm very curious to know if there are some amazing lease deals on the 04s in Toronto. Man, it would be great to see in Canada the $299, zero down deals that are common on the RX8s in the US.

I just got $1,500 off invoice for my friend negotiating the purchase of a new 2004 pathfinder in Calgary. So yes, they should be desperate.

So far, the lowest least payment that I've seen in Winnipeg for an RX8 is $569, plus taxes, zero down, based on a $38,500k MSRP for the GS. Way too high.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There are better deals throuout the US because it appears that there is more stock in the US of the 04's. In Canada, there aren't that many left from what I have been able to gather.

$38,500 for a GS is too much!....

Most leases are based on msrp. All leases are negotiable the same as a purchase is.

This is a great lease calculator that I found on-line. I just use the Mazda Canada website residual value for my calculations - as a tip, remember that the lease caculator bases residual values on the MSRP of a vehicle - getting a better price reduces the amount of capitalized cost (or how much of the vehicle cost you will pay in your lease) - this caluclator allows for reduced purchase price calculations. Mazda Canada appears to be using a residual value of 48% for the GT on a 48 month lease - I haven't checked the GS model. My wife just crashed my Titanium GT (the third accident this car has had in less than 12 months!) so I am looking to flip out of mine. PM me if you have any questions about the calculator.

Good luck,

Steve

For what it's worth, the price on carsdirect.com dropped about $1,000 in the past week or so. I was going to wait for an 05, but the price drop was too good to pass up and like you said there's really no difference between the 04 and 05.
