Maybe this is a Canadian thing but I'm totally confused.

 

Why would you want to do that? Do you have any idea how tricky it is to realign a hood after you've taken it off?

 

Can't a man do what he wants?
Hood swap. simple, costs practically nothing... sets my car appart from the other 8s in town so my friends don't wave at strangers.

I guess a red-black swap would look alright. I think there was a guy with a silver 8 in the states that has a black OEM hood ... looked good.

Did you try the local scrap yard ... perhaps somebody got rearended and the front end is still good.

 

Why stop at a hood? Go for the entire VW Harlequin look. Swap front and rear doors and the trunk lid as well. For maximum effect, the body, hood, front doors, rear doors, and trunk all have to be different colours.

Of course, your friends will probably stop waving at you entirely...

So - I was kidding. Not flaming. Obviously a few people think it's kind of strange to change hoods to get a different colour, since normally the only people with different coloured hoods are those who bought heavier carbon fiber replacements, and don't paint them so they can show off their investment.

However, to make it perfectly clear - I apologize if you did not understand that my post was intended purely in jest, and that I meant no personal offense to your or your hood-swapping intentions.

That said, YOU over-reacted and started trying to run the forum (ie telling people what they may or may not post in this thread). Which leads back to the "lighten up, don't take yourself so seriously". Forum members are entitled to post their opinions around here (so long as they are not making personal attacks), whether you like it or not. Not liking someone's opinion on your proposed swap does not make that expressed opinion a personal attack.

I personally think cars with mis-matched body panels look like they have been wrecked and got a replacement from the junk yard. I must be missing the point of it.

i cant imagine a red hood on an 8 of another color that would possibly make it look
good... any color with black hood is acceptable... any other color combination would
just look... odd. well, gl with your search.

 

Why not just get your hood painted?

 

looks like rez-8 is having a hard time finding someone as hip to swap hoods. I wonder why?
