That's what has been posted on this forum. Hope its true. I'll be checking back in tomorrow to see what the final price is.

Think about it, no more speculation! It'll be nice!

Phoned Mazda Canada at 1600 EST. They could not tell me the pricing 'cause I guess the only people with that knowledge were all at the auto show. Their position was that the pricing was being released to the press today. "So", says I, "you don't have the information, but the press supposedly does?"

And that was pretty much that. Since we didn't seem to have any spies at the auto show, I guess we have to wait. My salesman told me the dealer principle would be at the show, so hopefully he can bring the info into the dealer tomorrow. Hopefully.

Good find Puppy1

I can live with the $36K base if the darn thing came with a LSD. I really don't understand why Mazda chose to include te stereo instead of it. If anything, our Canadian winter would justify the need for one. Why sell a 250HP "sports car" without a LSD?

BTW, purchasing a separate one and installing it can cost up to $2K

Although getting a fully loaded model is only 3 K more, it has the extra weight of power seats which I really didn't want.

I'll definitely wait 'til 2005 models to see if LSD will be included, but I doubt it.

If you make a big enough issue out of it, you may be able to get them to include it. Mazda has been listening pretty closely to the customers - witness the changes on the Mazda 6 options.

I do agree with you - an LSD should definitely be included for those up north. Why not a cold weather package including just LSD, heated seats and mirrors, block heater?

Power seats are probably 30lbs. Nothing major, especially since it's weight is located quite low, but it's still a feature that I really wouldn't care about.

I'm just a little miff'd at the packages. I really would rather see basic performance/safety features (LSD/DSC) as a base price and leather, Xenon, power seat, Bose, and sunroof in the pimped out version.

Honestly, with the MSRP, recent (and future) gas prices - taking the rumored RX-8 mileage into consideration, and the provided Canadian packages, the RX-8 is off my list. I love the style and concept, but I'm going to hold off for another year or so and see if I can find a more complete package (for my needs) max $40K out the door (BMW 1 series?). I'm tired of buying aftermarket (ie: my previous FD), and for my generous limit of $40K, I don't feel I should have to do so for a sporty ride.
