Whats the latest on block heaters?
I am hearing no from my dealer, and Mazda Canada told me not as of yet.
When I asked about an oil pan heater or inline I got a political "mazda canada does not recommend the instalation of non mazda parts which could jeprodize warranty issues".
They didnt say that it would, it was more of a c.y.a statement.
I keep hearing about the inline heater screwing up some sensor or map in the engine.
Could someone explain this to me?
Lets say it is -40 outside (I am in winnipeg and can tell you that yes it can get this cold). Lets for the sake of discusion say that the inline would warm the engine to -20. Does this mean when it is -20 outside that the sensors or maps would be screwed up?
I dont understand how instaling an inline heater would do anything to the car other than making it easier to start in the morning.
Yes, a modern car, good battery, etc does not need to be plugged in these days but you cant tell me that it is good for the car.
I will be insulating my attached garage this winter . When the 8 is out in the winter it will be for short periods, or parked in an indoor garage.
But it would still be nice to be able to warm the block.
I heard the oil pan heater doesnt work too well. Why not? Wouldnt it be better than a bnlock heater?
Even with a warm block the oil is still like aunt jamiema in the fridge.

I can't remember which post but serveral people already has it installed and have not reported any problem with sensor. I don't see how that would affect the car other than making it easier to start in winter. I believe Canzoomer also has it installed on his car.
