I would take 170km per tank if i could have that acceleration.

I just got 200km on a tank in my rx8 that is having misfire problems(dead stock). And i have about 9 hp once i reach 7000ish rpm

Compression check tomorrow and then i am getting them to do the lack of power service TSB.

Need to get a couple video's that are good quality....maybe with another car in them for comparison(definitely looks fast)

been there.. done that... last week actually. Problem came down to a single dead coil connected to the lead spark on the first rotar.. basically drowned the trailing.

Anyways.. it ran fine most of the time, just really shitty fuel consumption and a lack of accelleration in first and second. Then when the cold hit it started misfiring like a ****.

Seems simple enough.. now I can actually accellerate... and I still get better milage!

Use 91 and got 310 on last line. Just got it 3 weeks ago, so I'm having a tough time shifting below 6..... It's a long way from the Hyundai I had.

I dunno why, my 8 seems only like petro-canada 91 octant gas; everytime if i filled up by any other brand like shell, esso, coop, and so on, my car will have some kinda problems. This time I used coop, damn, spark plugs are gone (well, i know they are not related)

something strange happened today. Saturday night, i filled up at a different gas station. the pioneer in guelph. I always go to the esso by my place (unless im out of town which is rare). I alsmost always get about 320 to a tank these days except when it gets really cold in which case i'd been getting 275-300 to a tank. and thats a full tank. not to the light, to the end of the gauge. anyways, the warm weather we've been getting lately i've been back to 320ish per tank. I digress. filled up at pioneer on satruday and did my normal driving. decided to go for a cruise today with the ex GF. Unbeleivable...i got almost 430 to a tank. and this was my usual mix of weekend driving. 40/60 city/highway. just unreal. I didnt change my driving style at all. if anything i was getting on it more because of how beautiful its been lately. im gonna keep going to the pioneer for a while and see what the result is. Im thinking there must be something else at work here, as 100km/tank more than normal seems like a huge jump for just switching companies. Maybe becuase i've been getting on the throttle alot lately i've cleared out the engine or something. Strange...but a good kind of strange.

What's the most you've ever filled up at one time. Over the weekend I was driving home and the gas light came on. I was at least 50kms away from home and decided to just do it. When I filled up at the station near my house, I was only able to fill up about 53L. But the needle was already touching the E line. So I'm wondering how far below that line can you go?

There's your problem.

In any case, the cause of that could be one of a billion things: cat, sparks, wires, coils, etc. I guess if you're going to replace the coils yourself, you might as well try that first.. if that doesn't do it, then try taking it in to Scarborough Mazda and have them take a look.

Then again.. if you're driving around at 9k all day.. that could also be the issue

I get about 180 Miles per tank. I have been getting this in my 2004 GT for about 3 months now. I have changed the Spark plugs and wires. Next, I am changing the coils to see if that helps at all. Mazda is not really an option for me since my 4 year warranty is up. Does anyone know if they will perform a compression check under the engine warranty? Or wil they chardge me to do the compression test unless there is bad compression?

Ummm... from what I recall you gotta pay if there's nothing wrong.

My father just found the compression tester tool thingy lol. You screw it in to a spark plug hole and crank the engine a few times then take the readings. I've never done this before, but maybe I will give it a shot. Now time to search for a DIY.

I agree 100%. Ethanol is actually less efficient and in my Mazdaspeed6 I notcied almost 100km per tank going from Sunoco Ultra 94 to Shell V-power 91!

I don't mean to make you cry but I get 550km in my Mazdaspeed6 and 450km in my MX-5. Still, I miss owning a rotary.
