what to do when the lease is up
This question is for those of you out there, like me, who leased their 8, and are now pondering what to do now that 4 years have gone by, and the lease is up.
What are you going to do? buy out? lease a new 8? jump ship and buy a 370Z?
Lets hear the plans!

i'd at the very least test drive the 370z -- too good of a deal in terms of performance/price not to at least check it out. no guarantees on how you'll like the feel of the car in general tho i guess.
Thinking of buying an 06-07 rx-8 base model when my lease runs out, and moderately modifying it for track use.
I would probably check out other cars (E86 Z4 M coupe, Z370 or Elise/Exige) but doubt that I can live with them daily and the e46 m3 is just too heavy.
The 8 is cheap to buy used, cheap to run, has a long warranty and 4 seats. The only reason I would consider other cars is the lack of power which can be frustrating at the track.

what does that mean?
edit:
besides, I am not asking for gt3 power, but just enough so mildly modified civics will not pull away on the back straight at Mosport. Just about any car I have seen on the track pulls away from the rx-8 on the straight no matter what you do in the corners.

It means take some professional driving courses and learn to control your car at high speeds and you will more than make up for the loss of power by keeping your speed up in the twisties where others can't.

After my 4 years I gave the car up and bought a Lexus IS350, Like most cars I've owned there are things I miss and things I don't. I'm really starting to get comfortable with my new ride now....still there are days when I miss the ol 8.
getting back to the OP, it really depends on how much u more you have to pay to buy back your 8. For me, the residual value is really low (as in $10K after 4 year), so it may make sense just to buy it and perhaps sell the car for $20K or so.
As for the 8 being underpowered on the track, it IS... and it makes a big difference, especially at tracks with lots of long straights connected by tight corners. With all drivers being equal, having power makes passing much easier. The 8 handles great but it is not much quicker (if at all) than a RSX Type S on the front straight of Race City in Calgary.

it depends on why you like the 8
there are a few things that i still couldn't find anywhere if i did have the means to move to any reasonably priced sports car right now:
1) 9k redline
2) sweet handling
3) rarity (for a ~50k or under sports car that is)
not sure how "unrare" the 370z will or will not become though i guess... but you're right about bmw and infinitis... i see 3-series and g3xs everywhere..
